If you are a regular reader of my blog, you will know that I have two young children. So knowing what childcare there is available in my area is vitally important. After all, you never know when you might fancy a night out together with your partner and need a babysitter, or you are beginning to look at nurseries.
I’ve been tasked to take a look at Childcare.co.uk an award-winning online social networking platform for parents, childcare providers and private tutors. To see how the website works and how easy it is to find childcare in my area.
First thoughts of Childcare.co.uk is that it looks pretty simple to use. It’s like an online directory full of information that you can discover relevant to you. I can see why they have over 2 million users, all the info is right in front of you.
Another good point to make about this website is that not only you can look for childcare but you can look for childcare jobs if that’s your industry. For both sides, you can create a free profile.
How it works
Pop in the service you are looking for in the drop-down menu. You can choose from a babysitter, childminder, nursery, nanny, Au Pair, maternity nurse, out of school club, private tutor, doula and more besides. Then you enter your full postcode.
So if I’m on the hunt for a baby sitter to look after the girls one evening, I select baby sitter in the drop-down menu, and I enter my postcode, so it brings up all the babysitters registered on the site within 5 miles of my postcode.
My results show me that there are 76 babysitters I can choose from that are local to me. You can narrow this down further, according to your needs.
For example, if you want a babysitter that has a DBS check and their first aid training completed you can narrow your search to only include these babysitters. Or if you want an overnight babysitter or one that offers newborn experience you can narrow the search down to just those that offer this surface. There are many ways to filter the search down to the right one for you and your family.
You can browse the individual profiles of each candidate, which will give you an idea if they will be suited for your needs. A summary provided is great for a quick glance at their qualifications. Then you can read the about me section. This is the interesting bit. You can see if they have taken the time to share a little about themselves. The profile continues with availability, fees, reviews, and documents. This part is particularly helpful as electronic copies of documents have been reviewed by Childcare.co.uk and are held on file for that person.
Childcare.co.uk has a safety centre section which provides advice on keeping you and your family safe. As well as other resources such as parenting guides, and important checks you must carry out when employing a childcare provider.
What I think
I have found navigating my way around the website really easy. It’s clear and concise, helpful to any concerns or questions you have. The information is in one place and it’s a website all parents need to bookmark. Highly recommended.
Have you heard of or used the Childcare.co.uk website? Are you a regular user of babysitters and childminders?
Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you’ve enjoyed this post.
