If you’ve been following along for a while, you’ll know I’m a big fan of little routines that make everyday life feel calmer. Nothing fancy, nothing unrealistic, just small things that help me breathe out at the end of the day. So today I’m finally sharing my TRIP drink reviews, because these lightly sparkling, mindful infused drinks have been a proper favourite of mine for a long while now.

I’m also a non alcoholic drinker, and I honestly think that’s why I’m so picky about soft drinks. I want something that feels grown-up and refreshing, not overly sweet, and not like I’m just drinking fizzy pop for the sake of it. TRIP hits that sweet spot for me. It feels like a treat, but it also fits into real life. I wanted to put this complete guide to one of my favourite products, which can help you make a decision to try it if you want to.

A quick note from me (SEND mum life)

I don’t share this for sympathy, but just because it’s my reality. It’s not easy being a SEND mum. Some days are brilliant, and some days are loud, emotional, and full-on from the moment you wake up. By the time the evening rolls around, my nervous system is usually begging for a bit of quiet! I’m not looking for a miracle cure in a can; I don’t do energy drinks. But I do love anything that helps me end the day more calmly. For me, that’s where TRIP fits in.

The TRIP CBD drinks I tried

For this post, I tried three of the TRIP CBD drinks:

  • Elderflower Mint
  • Peach Ginger
  • Raspberry Orange Blossom

These are CBD-infused drinks, and they’re designed to feel relaxing and soothing. If you’re new to CBD drinks, you might be wondering about things like mg of CBD,  CBD experiences, added sugar, and possible side effects. I’m not here to give medical advice, but I do think it’s worth having a quick read of the can, especially if you’re sensitive to ingredients or you’re trying CBD products for the first time.

TRIP CBD drinks

Taste test: flavour-by-flavour review

Elderflower Mint

This one is so refreshing. The elderflower feels light and floral, and the mint gives it that clean, cooling finish. It’s the kind of drink that feels really crisp straight from the fridge, and it’s lovely poured over ice too.

If you like a drink that’s not too sweet and doesn’t leave you with a sugary aftertaste, this is a great place to start.

Peach Ginger

Peach Ginger is the cosiest of the three, in my opinion. The peach makes it feel soft and fruity, and the ginger adds a gentle warmth that stops it from being sickly.

It’s the one I’d reach for when I want something a bit more comforting, like when the day’s been busy and my brain is still whirring!!

Raspberry Orange Blossom

This is such a pretty flavour. The raspberry gives it a bright, fruity taste, and the orange blossom adds a slightly floral, botanical-extract vibe. It feels a bit more “special occasion” than the others, like something you’d happily serve in a nice glass when you want a treat but you’re not drinking alcohol.

My overall verdict so far

The best way I can describe these is lightly sparkling, genuinely refreshing, and a bit more grown-up than your average soft drinks. They don’t taste like a gimmick, and they don’t feel overly sweet. But I will say they do give me the CBD effect and make me feel sleepy! These are the right choice on a Friday night for a calm evening with no work the next day!

If the CBD drinks feel like a little moment of calm, the magnesium drinks feel like my evening routine in a can. I’m all about anything that helps me slow down after a busy day, and these have become one of those simple, realistic habits that I actually stick to.

The TRIP magnesium drinks I tried

Here are the magnesium drinks I’ve been taste testing:

  • Sicilian Lemon
  • Blood Orange Rosemary
  • Apple Blossom
  • Wild Strawberry
  • Cherry Lemon

They’re still very much in the soft drinks category, but they feel a bit more mindful, brain food and grown-up, which is exactly what I want as someone who doesn’t drink alcohol.

My favourite: Sicilian Lemon

Sicilian Lemon is my favourite, without a doubt.

It’s bright, crisp, and properly refreshing, and it’s the one I keep reaching for again and again. The lemon flavour feels clean rather than sugary, and it’s the sort of drink that instantly makes you feel like you’re doing something nice for yourself.

This is my ideal 6 pm drink. Ice cold, straight from the fridge, poured over ice on a hot summer’s evening after a busy day. It’s that little switch-off moment between the chaos of the day and the calmer part of the evening.

Flavour-by-flavour: quick taste notes

Blood Orange

This one feels a bit more fancy, like something you’d order if you were out and wanted a non alcoholic drink that still felt special. The blood orange brings the fruity bit, and the rosemary gives it that botanical extracts vibe.

Apple Blossom

Apple Blossom is light and easy to drink. It’s gentle, not too sharp, and it feels like a good choice if you like softer flavours rather than anything too bold.

Wild Strawberry

This is the most playful of the bunch. It’s fruity and summery, and it’s a nice one for when you want something that feels like a treat but isn’t overly sweet.

Cherry Lemon

Cherry Lemon has a bit more pop to it. You get the cherry first, then that little lemony lift at the end. It’s a great one to have when it’s really cold – definitely one of their top products!

Why I love these as a non alcoholic option

I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again. Being a non alcoholic drinker can be a bit boring sometimes, especially in the evenings when you want something that feels like a proper wind-down drink.

These are perfect for that. They’re lightly sparkling, they feel like a treat, and they’re the kind of drink you can enjoy slowly while you’re making dinner, tidying up, or finally sitting down once the kids are in bed.

A calm end to the day (SEND mum reality!)

I’m always honest on here, and the truth is that I do need things in my day that help me calm down and reduce my anxieties. SEND parenting can be intense, and it’s not always easy to switch off once the day is done.

That’s why I’m proud and excited to share my thoughts on TRIP. It’s a drink I’ve loved for a long while now, and it’s become part of how I create a calmer, gentler evening.

A Note on the Benefits

Many of the ingredients used in TRIP drinks, including CBD, lion’s mane mushroom, L-theanine and ashwagandha, are popular in the wellness world. However, research into some of these ingredients is still evolving. While some people report feeling calmer, more focused or more refreshed after drinking them, individual experiences can vary.

Magnesium is the ingredient with the strongest scientific evidence, as it has authorised health claims in the UK and EU. It contributes to normal psychological function, helps reduce tiredness and fatigue, and supports the normal functioning of the nervous system when consumed as part of a balanced diet.

TRIP drinks FAQ (the bits you probably want to know)

Before I wrap up, I wanted to include a quick, practical FAQ, because I know when you’re looking at CBD drinks or magnesium drinks for the first time, you end up with about a million little questions.

1) Do TRIP drinks taste like CBD?

In my experience, not really.

The TRIP CBD drinks I tried (Elderflower Mint, Peach Ginger, and Raspberry Orange Blossom) taste more like lightly sparkling soft drinks with a botanical extracts vibe. Completely different to CBD oils. They feel more grown-up than your average fizzy drink, and they’re not overly sweet.

If you’re worried they’ll taste earthy or strange, I’d start with Elderflower Mint. It’s crisp and refreshing, and it’s the easiest one to sip, I think –  One of the top sellers, I’m sure!

2) What about added sugar?

This is one of those things that really matters to me, because I don’t want a drink that leaves me feeling more jittery.

I always recommend checking the can for the exact details on added sugar and ingredients, because formulas can change and different flavours can vary. Taste-wise, none of the ones I tried felt syrupy or overly sweet.

3) How much CBD is in them (mg of CBD)?

TRIP lists the mg of CBD on the can, so you can see what you’re having.

I’m not giving medical advice here, but if you’re new to CBD products, it’s a good idea to read the label, start gently, and pay attention to how you feel.

4) Which flavour should I choose?

If you want my quick guide:

  • Fresh and crisp: Elderflower Mint
  • Cosy and comforting: Peach Ginger
  • Fruity and a bit fancy: Raspberry Orange Blossom
  • My magnesium favourite for evenings: Sicilian Lemon

And if you want a proper wind-down moment, I still think the magnesium drinks are perfect as a 6pm ice-cold drink on a hot summer’s evening after a busy day.

Are There Any Side Effects of TRIP Drinks?

For most healthy adults, TRIP drinks are generally well tolerated when enjoyed as directed. The exact side effects can vary depending on which product you choose, as some contain CBD while others are made with functional ingredients such as lion’s mane mushroom, magnesium, L-theanine and ashwagandha.

Possible Side Effects of TRIP CBD Drinks

TRIP’s original sparkling drinks contain cannabidiol (CBD), a non-intoxicating compound derived from hemp. Unlike THC, CBD will not make you feel “high”, but some people may experience mild side effects, particularly when trying it for the first time.

Potential side effects include:

  • Dry mouth
  • Feeling sleepy or drowsy
  • Light-headedness
  • Changes in appetite
  • Mild digestive discomfort, such as nausea or diarrhoea
  • Feeling more relaxed than usual

These effects are usually mild and temporary. If you’re new to CBD, it may be worth starting with one can to see how your body responds.

Possible Side Effects of TRIP Mindful Blend Drinks

The Mindful Blend range does not contain CBD. Instead, it includes ingredients such as lion’s mane mushroom, magnesium, L-theanine and ashwagandha, which are commonly used to support focus and relaxation.

Although these ingredients are generally considered safe, some people may experience:

  • Mild stomach upset
  • Bloating
  • Headache
  • Drowsiness or increased relaxation
  • Allergic reactions, particularly if you are sensitive to mushrooms

As with any supplement, individual responses can vary.

Can TRIP Drinks Interact With Medications?

CBD has the potential to interact with certain prescription medicines because it can affect the way the liver processes some medications. If you take regular medication, especially blood thinners, epilepsy medicines or medications with a “grapefruit warning”, it’s best to speak to your GP or pharmacist before consuming CBD products.

Ashwagandha may also interact with some medications, including those used for thyroid conditions, diabetes, high blood pressure or immune system disorders. If you’re pregnant, breastfeeding or have a medical condition, seek medical advice before drinking products containing functional botanicals.

Who Should Avoid TRIP Drinks?

TRIP drinks may not be suitable for everyone. You should avoid them or seek medical advice first if you:

  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Are under 18 years of age.
  • Take prescription medication that could interact with CBD or herbal ingredients.
  • Have liver disease or a serious medical condition.
  • Have a known allergy to any of the ingredients.

My Final Verdict (and who I think they’re for)

TRIP Drink Reviews Mindful Blend

If you’re someone who wants a non alcoholic drink that still feels like a treat, I honestly think TRIP is a lovely option. It’s ideal for those evenings when you’re done with the day, your brain is still buzzing, you want a moment away from the everyday chaos, and you just want something that helps you slow down. As a SEND mum, I’m always looking for small ways to calm my nervous system and reduce my anxieties. For me, TRIP fits into that calm end-of-day routine, especially when I’m trying to be more mindful about how I unwind.

If you do try them, let me know which one you go for first. I’m always nosy about everyone’s favourite flavours.
