Baby Diaries #4 – Colic and Reflux

Last week we took baby dottie to see a cranial osteopath to help with her colic and reflux. Plus try and help her posture as she’s always a little scrumped up towards the right. Although she was a c section baby she was forceps delivered as she had sunk really far down into my pelvis. These left a little bruise above her left eye and a little bloodshot eye. All of this has contributed to her head and neck muscles being tight.

Merino Baby Snugs from The Baby Academy

I love knitted items for babies and children. My mum is a huge knitter and knitted everything for us when we were small. We always had a new knitted jumper on, in fact she knitted all our school jumpers. This was back in the 80’s when school blazers were not a thing at small country schools. Mum made the raffle prizes for school. They were knitted dolls and animals stuffed with rags and were amazing. She’s a very talented knitter. Although she doesn’t do quite as much nowadays.

Vickie from The Baby Academy down here in Cornwall got in touch with us asking me if we would like one of the Merino Baby Snugs for baby dottie to try. These gorgeous snugs are all hand knitted and designed by local people.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar Sainsbury’s Babywear Range

One of my very favourite books as a young child was The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. It’s fun, bright, colourful and a classic story that time will never forget.

Did you know that a copy is sold every 15 seconds? Over 44 million copies have been sold worldwide.

When we were asked to share our thoughts on The Very Hungry Caterpillar babywear range on sale at Sainsbury’s it was something I couldn’t turn down. I want to share this much celebrated book with my daughters and this gorgeous range of clothes and items.

Baby Diaries #3 – Second Time Around

I never knew having a second baby would be so hard. In fact it’s one of the hardest things I’ve ever attempted in my life. Being up by night then not having the chance by day to nap like first time around is a struggle. Running around after a toddler who has endless energy is hard.

Baby Diaries #3 - Second Time Around (1)

I always thought I would be able to cope, but I haven’t. This is extremely hard for me to admit, but I’ve needed help. I’m lucky that my mother in law just lives across the road and is always on hand to take baby girl outside for a walk or just to play in the garden so I can have some rest bite. Even if it’s just to watch Grey’s Anatomy!

Baby Diaries #2 – Baby Dottie’s 1 Month Update

Here we are at baby dottie’s 1 month update. It’s hard to believe she’s been with us over a month now, yes I’m a little late with this update! It feels like she’s always been with us.

Baby dottie only lost 5% of her birth weight in those first few days. Unlike baby girl who lost over  10%. I put this down to myself being more experienced with breastfeeding this time around plus my milk came in quicker. We never got her red book until she was nearly 2 weeks old, bloody health visitors!

When the health visitor came around to do her checks she was such a busy body. Baby girl got on her nerves a bit as she wouldn’t stay quiet while she did baby dottie’s hearing test! What do you expect from a 2 year old? View Post

Baby Diaries #1 – Breastfeeding Second Time Around

Here is my first baby diary entry on baby dottie. It’s my thoughts and feelings on baby stuff written by me at 2am during the night feeds.

Baby Diaries #1 = breastfeeding

I thoroughly enjoyed breastfeeding my first baby girl. It was a tricky start we had because my milk was delayed in coming in, due to the emergency c-section and the unpleasant birth experience I had.

Nevertheless once breastfeeding was established it became second nature to me. In fact I only stopped breastfeeding when baby girl turned 18 months old and I found out I was pregnant.
