I’ve always loved baking, which I found through watching my late Aunt as a young child. She was always baking cakes, Cornish pasties, and savouries for the local Lifeboat charity fundraisers and for the coffee mornings she helped to organise. Mum and dad used to make pasties on a Saturday afternoon, I can hear my dad now bickering with mum over how much pepper to put in them! This love of baking traditional cakes that I have I’m passing down to the girls. Throughout lockdown, we kept ourselves busy making cakes and sweet treats, and we’ve kept this up by having baking Saturdays. In fact, this weekend coming is Christmas Cake baking day!

The Deluxe Baking Set

The girls love to get stuck into baking, and this Deluxe Baking Set is perfect for them. It’s been developed in partnership with Nadiya Hussain who won The Great British Bake Off back in 2015. The bakeware is specially made for children to use so it’s safe and no sharp edges. I particularly like that the cookie cutters have silicone around the edges to keep small fingers safe.

Included with the set are 6 recipe cards that are Nadiya’s favourites. They are easy to follow along and help kids to grow in confidence with their baking skills. Designed to also help develop their motor neurone skills and improve concentration. Which most kids need to work on let’s face it!

Getting kids to follow recipes helps them with reading and maths, plus weights and measures! We adore this Deluxe Baking Set, it’s made a fantastic addition to our kitchen. The only problem I have is who gets the cute apron included!

All the baking tools included are dishwasher safe and silicone tested to LFGB food safety standards. They are really great quality, I’m very impressed. In fact, I’ve been using a few of the baking tools for my own baking. The measuring spoons are invaluable!

Our Baking

We have been making muddy puddle cupcakes and carrot cake cupcakes with a cream cheese frosting for Grandma’s birthday.

  21. We love baking buns and my favourite is lemon curd butterfly buns. Scoop top out, cut it in half, lemon curd in bottom, buttercream icing then the halves put back on, yummy x
