Chalkola Chalk Markers and Chalkboard Review

*AD-gifted: We received the Chalkola Chalk Markers and Chalkboard in exchange for this post.

You know I’m a stationery lover, so I couldn’t help but get excited to try out the Chalkola chalk markers. I was also gifted a nifty chalkboard for our creations. Yep, once L saw the Chalkola markers and board, I had to share!! They are suitable for ages 3 plus, so I know they are safe for her to use as they are non-toxic, xylene-free, and odour free.

We love Chalkola

Throughout lockdown we’ve spent many times out in our garden, not only playing, but drawing, crafting and gardening as well. When it was sunny day last week, we spent the afternoon outside with our Chalkolas. L was happy up in her “tree house” using the Chalkolas for drawing on the chalkboard. She also has a chalkboard underneath! Very handy!

Chalkola Chalk Markers and Chalkboard Review

There are many uses for these fantastic chalk marker pens. For kids, artists, business, teachers and of course us mums!

If your business is a shop they are perfect for creating designs on your A-frame boards for advertising. This smaller board we received would be great on top of a counter advertising your cakes! As you may well have known up until recently I used to work on a fresh food counter and we had various A-frames and chalk name boards. These would have been really handy for decorating our boards. Plus they would have been useful for writing our special offers on the counter glass.

As a blogger I know it will come in handy to use in photographs. I’ve got an idea in mind to use it in L’s last day at preschool in a few weeks time. Also useful for first days as well!

Here is a little bit about the Chalkola marker pens and what makes them special.

How to get your Chalkola markers to work

To get your chalk marker started, ensure the lid is on and shake. Remove the lid and press the nib down on a hard surface, press down firmly to pump the marker until the chalk ink floods the nib and produces a smooth mark. L would love to show you how to get a Chalkola to work!

What surface can I draw on with a Chalkola Chalk Marker?

We’ve tried the chalkboard, glass and wood. I think non-porous surfaces work best such as whiteboards, glass, blackboards, metal, ceramics, plastics and vinyl. On the wood, it worked so you could see, but was harder to wipe clean as the wood was starting to absorb the colour. You can obviously use the markers on paper, but for keeps, not to wipe clean. They work very well on black paper and sugar paper if you are planning on keeping your masterpiece. Just to add they come off skin very well!

Chalk Markers

We received the 21 box of Chalkola markers. Included are 15 chalk markers and 6 metallic markers.

Chalk Marker Colours

  • Brick Red
  • Pink
  • Candy Pink
  • Orange
  • Yellow
  • Green

Metallic Marker Colours

  • Red
  • Pink
  • Gold
  • Green
  • Blue
  • Silver

The Chalkola markers have a 6 mm reversible nib you can take out and turn around. So one side you get the rounded nib and the other the chisel tip for writing with a script font.

I would say the metallic markers are more for writing on DIY projects, paper or even scrap booking, I didn’t find them suitable for the chalkboard.

Chalkola Chalk Board

The rustic chalkboard design is very stylish, easy to set up when you take out of the box. The back leg just kicks out. It’s attached to the easel like board with a small chain. There is a small tray at the front to hold your pens. The surface is easy to glide the pen over and the Chalkola pens will write smoothly. Producing bold and vibrant designs. There was one white chalk marker included.
