Staying in the UK this Summer instead of going abroad for holidays is going to be extremely popular due to the current conditions. Taking a motorbike holiday around Cornwall is a fantastic way to see the scenery. There are many picturesque places to visit and beautiful views to take in. One of my favourite places to explore is Poldhu Cove. Here are some of the best motorbike rides in Cornwall as well as places to stop and visit along the way.

Land’s End

I’m starting at the bottom end of Cornwall. Land’s End – around 8 miles to the southwest of Penzance. You can easily spend a couple of hours here on the peninsula. You will have to pay to park at this stop. Take a walk around the cliff tops taking in the Atlantic ocean, breathing in that sea air. Have your pictures taken at the famous Land’s End signpost, and have a bite to eat at the Land’s End Bar and Restaurant before getting on your way.

From Land’s End you can decide your next stop. You can carry on and ride up the B3306 St Just to St Ives road or you can take your journey further around the peninsula to explore Mousehole a picturesque fishing village on the south coast. Before heading to Marazion and St Michael’s Mount.

St Michael’s Mount

Stunning St Michael’s Mount. When the tide is out take a walk across the causeway to the island where a legendary giant once walked! Discover an evocative castle seeped in history, a sub-tropical garden paradise and a close-knit island community with a cute gift shop!

You will have to pay to park up before you journey over to the Island. Don’t forget to find motorbike insurance for this summer season to give you a piece of mind for your summer holiday and while you are away from your motorbike.

The Lizard

Heading off from Marazion and St Michael’s Mount you can travel the A394 heading towards the Helston area and eventually The Lizard. I would suggest detouring off the main road to visit Praa Sands beach. Wonderful golden sands and a gorgeous hot spot in the Summer. A stop at Porthleven is a must. It’s the most southerly working port in the UK and boasts a picturesque harbour, with some gorgeous old buildings. During the winter storms, people often visit the town to watch the waves crashing over the sea defenses right up to the buildings and up over the cliffs!

After making your planned stops you will eventually find yourself down at The Lizard. Where I must point out you can get an amazing Cornish Pasty at Ann’s Pasties in the Square. You will need one after your hike down to Lizard point!

The Lizard is a peninsula and Britain’s most southerly point. It’s designated as a National Character Area and lies within Cornwall’s Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

I find it a beautiful relaxing view out over the sea. Much different to my local coastal point of Perranporth. Nearby beaches include Coverack Beach, Kynance Cove, Kennack Sands.

Falmouth

When you leave The Lizard you can head up the road to Falmouth, a popular holiday spot. It’s known for its deep natural harbour on the Fal Estuary, and beaches like Swanpool and Gyllyngvase. Don’t forget to check out Pendennis Point, with Pendennis Castle!

Then I suggest you take the King Harry Ferry over to The Roseland. Here you will find beautiful scenery and remote areas like Pendower, Portloe and Veryan to discover.

From The Roseland you can travel a but further along the coast taking in Mevagissey and Pentewan before cutting across inland over to the opposite coast and the Newquay area.

Newquay to Padstow

A stunning journey from Newquay to Padstow will leave you craving the Cornish life. You will travel through Watergate Bay and Mawgan Porth taking in the beautiful Cornish views. You can even pop in to have a spa break at the Scarlet Hotel in Mawgan Porth to relieve those tired muscles! On arrival in the fishing port of Padstow, made famous by Rick Stein, you will discover amazing crab sandwiches and quaint cottages.

Tintagel and Boscastle

Leaving Padstow and getting on the road up the coast will take you via Polzeath, Port Isaac, Tintagel then on to Boscastle. All stunning Cornish villages known for their different reasons.  Port Isaac has become associated with the TV series ‘Doc Martin’, Tintagel is the legendary birthplace of King Arthur, and Boscastle had the terrible flood in Summer 2004 which nearly destroyed the village.
