My word for this week is Nesting. As you know from last weeks Word of the Week
I am waiting for the birth of my first baby. I am now nearly 39 weeks and still waiting! but this week I thought i would pick the word Nesting for my #WotW, although waiting still applies!
So apparently most pregnant women go through some sort of nesting phase before the birth of their little one. I am not sure I fit into that category as I haven’t had that nesting feeling, or so I think! A few weeks back my husband and I got the nursery ready, I washed, folded and put away all her little clothes. I have double and triple checked my hospital bag. Does this count as nesting?
I always thought nesting was cleaning and scrubbing every surface possible but that part hasn’t come to me (yet!). I really don’t have the energy to clean out the fridge or mop the kitchen floor. Nesting is a natural way of preparing and protecting your unborn baby from the outside world.
I would love to hear what were your nesting habits? if you had any.
There is an old wives tale that when nesting urges begin labour is about to come on. So maybe my little girl isn’t ready to come yet! I hope this isn’t true as I am getting really fed up with waiting. I have been on maternity leave for two weeks now ( I had 4 weeks holiday to use up from work before that) so I am all out of waiting now. It is the most exciting thing in life to wait for and I am so eager to meet my baby girl.
Maybe next week I will have a completely different Word of the Week!
I have a very exciting start to the New Year as I’m waiting to become a mummy for the first time! My due date is the 25th January so time is getting closer now. I am getting very impatient now as I can’t wait to see her little face – I’m soooooooo excited! So my word of the week has to be Waiting.
It feels like I’ve been pregnant for ever. I know I will miss her little kicks and punches when she leaves my tummy but having her in my arms is something I’m looking forward to very much as we have been trying for two and a half years for her. So it has been such a long waiting game for us but the end is in sight very soon.
There you have it, Waiting is my first Word of the Week for the year and I hope you will join in every week on my journey as a first time mummy through Word of the Week.
This is my Word of the Week: Preparing
Prepare, a verb – make ready or able to do or deal with something.
It has been a few months since I have written a Word of The Week post, but the reason being is that I have have had really bad morning sickness and feeling exhausted. I am nearly 25 weeks pregnant with our little girl! So with working full time and feeling tired I have had little time for blogging. But now I am feeling much better!
Now I feel it’s time to start getting little bits and bobs together and preparing for our little arrival in January. It does seem a bit of a headache in sorting out what bits we need to buy, so I have been making little lists and ticking bits off one by one.
Thanks to thereadingresidence for hosting this great linky.
We took a beautiful early morning walk around Boscawen Park, Truro yesterday and I couldn’t believe how pretty the flower beds are. A lot of time, effort, planning and hard work goes into the park making it one of the prettiest places to take a stroll around in my local area. Perfect for lots of different children’s outdoor activities to do in wide open spaces.
As all compers know, there can be times when you go through a very quiet spell with no wins at all. This has happened to me through most of July. August started off better though with a couple of Twitter wins, a facebook win and a WEM (winning email – these are very rare and when you receive one you will be jumping up in the air!).
The picture below shows some lovely packs of granola that I won on Twitter with @lizisgranola
The pink apple and cinnamon one is amazing! It’s very crunchy, with soft apple pieces and just enough cinnamon without it being overbearing. I have been taking it to work to have for breakfast with a pot of yogurt drizzled over the top. Perfect for that slow release energy needed during my pregnancy.
I won the Pregnacare vitamins and stretch cream with OK Magazine and they sent me a WEM to let me know I’d won. WEM’s are very exciting and this win has just come at the right time for me. The stretch cream is very useful at the moment as I feel myself growing!
I won the lovely book Snowflake Bay by Donna Kauffman on Facebook from the author herself. It was an international giveaway and arrived with some lovely cards from Virginia. I love looking at international stamps from packages abroad so was chuffed to bits to see this one arrive all the way from Virginia, USA. When I get through my back log of book wins I am sure you will see a review up of this on my blog and Goodreads.
This beautiful framed artwork I won with @StudioCanalUK
on Twitter is one of my most treasured competition wins. Every now and again I love to win things for my house and this is one of those special ones that will take pride of place on my wall.
I love to her about other people’s competition wins so feel free to share your stories. I think it gives everyone determination to keep on entering.
Well it has been a few weeks since I last blogged, and this is the reason why! My husband and I are expecting our first baby. It has been a long two years for us and we are so excited we are finally at this point.
I have had the most terrible morning sickness and the usual tiredness that goes with being pregnant. So whilst working full time I haven’t had the energy in the evenings to blog or comp. I have been getting home from work and falling asleep on the sofa, so my poor little blog and readers have been neglected.
Now I am past the first trimester the sickness has worn off and I am feeling must better. My energy levels are coming back up so I am ready to get back on the blogging and comping train!
While starting back up my regular comping routine, I am very lucky to have won these wonderful and very useful books. The Baby Keepsake book and planner is absolutely adorable. It contains lots of little useful notes and pockets to add your own bits, while charting your progress. It’s perfect and I can’t wait to start filling it in.
My pregnancy 2015 has a week by week guide and is very useful in what is about to begin happening to your body. I love the baby name section, choosing the correct name for your baby is such an important part, as they will be stuck with it for the rest of their life!
My mission over the next few months is to enter as many baby competitions that I can find, so hopefully I can win a few bits to help us on our way.
