This past week I have been reading a new dystopian novel by L. Stanley, 2051: The Emancipated Synthetic. I haven’t read a dystopian book for while. The last ones being the The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, but those books are more young adult designed. I did watch The Handmaid’s Tale last year on TV and really enjoyed it, that’s set in a scary world much like 2051.
Firstly here is a little bit more about 2051.
Today I’m on the blog tour for Behind her back by Jane Lythell. It’s the second book of the StoryWorld series, but I still found it easy enough to read without reading the first.
Today it’s my stop on the blog tour for The 13th Reality Journal of Curious Letters by James Dashner. This book is unlike any others I’ve read recently. The intrigue, mystery and suspense – it’s hard to believe it’s tween/child’s reading book!
Before I get onto the review I must tell you a little about The 13th Reality Journal of Curious Letters.
This past week I have been reading The Lost Hat: Picnic Adventures Part One to baby girl. It’s the first book in the Kitty Katz Club series by Sarah Milne.
The fascinating thing about this book is that it has an accompanying CD. Throughout the book it tells you when to listen to the appropriate track at that point. I love the interactive way this book brings music and words together.
Today I’m on the blog tour for Court of Lions by Jane Johnson. I loved getting stuck into this book and read it pretty fast! In fact I finished it just yesterday! Jane Johnson is a Cornish author so this added another dimension for me wanting to read it being from Cornwall myself.
Before we get onto my review, here is a little bit about Court of Lions.
An epic saga of romance and redemption. Court of Lions brings one of the great turning points in history to life, through the stories of a modern woman and the last Moorish sultan of Granada.
This past week we have been catching up on reading with this cute little book about a farm and its animals. Where have all the animals gone? is written by Darren Paul Ellis from Lancashire. Who is an airline pilot when he’s not writing.
Having grown up on a smallholding with cows, geese, chickens, goats and a pony this book appealed to me. The big kid I am! I have a love of all farm things and would love to pass some of this onto baby girl. I think already she is an outdoorsy girl like her mum!
