How Students (or Children) Can Make Extra Money Through Coding

If you have a skill, then you should probably be looking for ways to make money off your skills. Coding and programming is a skill, and there are a few ways you can make money from it. For example, you could teach Python coding for kids, or perhaps work on other people’s PC games. Here are a few ideas to help you make money.

How Students (or Children) Can Make Extra Money Through Coding

Offer Lessons on Coding

You could start with the very easy stuff, such as offering tutorials on what programming is all about, and if you get a few followers and a few people interested, then you could start teaching the subject online.

You could work for one of those websites that allows people to post their own lessons, or even one of those websites that allows you to create and build your own online classes. In these cases, you will have to demonstrate some level of skill, but the entry requirements are pretty low because these companies are crying out for people to join their websites.

Work on Programming Problems

This is a tricky one because the coding community is probably one of the most altruistic companies on the planet, but there is a difference between helping somebody out with a problem and doing some of their coursework or business-work for them. The people who work for businesses are just people, and they are just as lazy as the rest. You can exploit that laziness by having you do some of the hard work while they hand it in as their own.

Get Freelance Coding Jobs

There are websites out there where you look over the jobs on offer, and you offer a bid. If the person posting the job likes your offer, then they hire you and you do the work for them. The work ranges from everything from simple security tests to carving out chunks of a PC or console game. You may even grab a few jobs as a bug tester or Q/A tester. There is a website called Freelancer, which is not ideal for full-time programmers, but is great for people who are starting out and who want to work for real people doing real projects.

Blog About Coding

There are a few ways that kids make money through coding, and one of the weirder ways is to blog about it. Even a kid can become an expert in a certain field of programming to the point where people will pay for advice on how to do something. The best examples of this are the kids who create their own pieces of code for Minecraft and Roblox and Rimworld. They create paid and free extensions, mods, improvements and so forth. People read about them, they see them on YouTube, and they want them for themselves. The kids can sell the code or offer to help improve other people’s games too.

Do Student’s Homework

This idea was hinted at earlier in the article, but yeah, there are students out there who do not want to finish their projects and/or complete their coursework, so they go hunting for people to do it for them. Many of them opt for those homework helper websites, which vary quite a bit in quality, when all they really want is a face they can trust. Students like the idea that they are trusting their work to a person rather than a company, and that is how you can sell your coding skills. You can complete their coursework and/or their homework and charge them money. You can even charge them extra if they want the work earlier.
