As we are heading into Winter, those of us who love our Winter sports especially skiing will be wondering if we still be able to go skiing. With what it seems like the whole world in virus turmoil, a ski holiday up in the mountains seems perfect to get away from it all. Austria, Bulgaria, France and Italy are options. But you will need to check travel restrictions on these countries before you start to book your trip. Of course you will also need to get yourself kitted out for this year’s ski season, so here is my pick for your Winter wardrobe.

Ski Jackets

Finding yourself a women’s ski jacket that suits your style and taste will make you feel a million dollars on the ski slopes. Bright bold colours are great options for you to be seen by your party. You want your kacket to be warm, yet light and breatheable for movement. There are various designs and options available to suit your budget and needs.

What do men look for in a ski jacket? Well ski jackets for men need to keep water out, it needs to be made from a fabric that’s breathable, with a high collar included. Other useful features include a hood to go over a helmet, long sleeves with or without elastic cuffs, and an inside pocket that will keep your phone secure.

If you are not into skiing, but prefer snowboarding, you will need a good quality men’s snowboard jacket to offer you protection against the elements.

Ski Trousers

It’s very important to find a pair of ski trousers or salopettes that you are comfortable in. It’s better to go up one size for plenty of movement and also for your under layers. You will need to be have sufficient leg room for bending the knees and flexibility.

Ski’s, Boots and Poles

I’ve been advised if it’s your first skiing trip that it would be best to hire your ski’s, ski boots, and poles when you get to your ski resort. If you discover that skiing isn’t for you, then you haven’t wasted a lot of money buying these.


You need a pair of waterproof, yet breathable gloves or mittens to protect your hands from the elements. It might be an idea to invest in a pair of thin glove liners for that extra layer of warmth. Especially if you get cold hands like I do!

Other useful items for your skiing shopping list

It’s useful to have a warm women’s fleece with you when you go on your skiing holiday to wear around the hotel or chalet. Along with a woolly hat and scarf! If you wanted to, you cold buy yourself ski socks, but a pair of long sports socks would suffice as ski boots nowadays are fully insulated. Don’t forget goggles! Sunglasses may protect your eyes from the gleaming white snow and sun, but they are no good if it’s windy! A backpack is also useful for putting your extra layers when you need them and don’t forget the sunscreen!
