Today I have a lovely review and giveaway for The Adventures of Rex. A true story of an exceptional rabbit.
Book Description
This is the story of Rex the rabbit.
Rex is initially overlooked because of his unusual appearance, but his sunny affectionate character makes him so appealing that he wins through to probably have a much more rewarding life than the other rabbits.
The book’s aim is to instill self-worth in children through promoting kindness and love, as opposed to stereotypical good looks.
At such a formative age for children, this is such an important subconscious life lesson for them to learn in this time of judgement and social insecurities.
About The Author
Ali Lane is an animal enthusiast and children’s author based in the Cotswolds, England, a magnificent area of outstanding natural beauty.
She is married with two children and lives on a lake surrounded by wildlife, nature, and their inspirational pets.
This is her first published book and is the true story of their very exceptional and special rabbit.

What We Thought
A beautiful sweet story. We felt very sad for Rex at first. Being overlooked each time for cuter rabbits in the pet shop. It’s a bit like being the last to be chosen at school for PE as you are not as fast as the others. It’s beautifully written through the eyes of Rex, going as far as to describing life in a cage in a pet shop. The illustrations are fun and fit really well with the character of the book.
The Adventures of Rex can be used as a tool for instilling self-worth into your child. It can be a judgemental and superficial world we live in unfortunately and this book will help to see past that. I wish my mum had read a book like this to me as a child. Being a redhead and therefore “different” I was teased at school, I used to go as far as to beg my mum to dye my hair. It’s not nice at that age as your confidence is low as you are growing.
This will be a firm favourite in our library to read over and over again especially as the girls get bigger.
