The past month has been crazy. In fact, I’ve been so busy I found myself getting run down, and then I got poorly with a chest infection. Which I’m still trying to get over. Normally when I get to the exhausted point I end up with tonsilitis or quinsy. One of my aims for 2022 is to practice better self-care. I always seem to be running around after everyone else and forget about myself. Anyway enough about me! Here is our Winter family diary of things we’ve got up to and tried over the last month.

Our Family

Dottie now goes to preschool 4 mornings a week. She absolutely loves it and can’t wait to go every morning. This past week while I’ve been poorly she has had a virus as well. So we have both spent the week snuggling up on the sofa. We have applied for her school place for next year. I can’t believe how fast that has come around. Fingers crossed she gets into the same school as her sister. I’m pretty sure she will, well I hope so as it was the only option I put down! We are going though a few delayed development issues with her at the moment, but It’s not something I can write about and share at this moment.

L has thoroughly enjoyed her first term back at school in year 1. She amazes me every day with her learning. Having a photographic memory means reading and learning lines come so easily to her. She is very advanced in her reading and has recently scored 91% on a reading and comprehension test. This means she is on the 91st percentile and above 91% nationally for children of her age.

Press Trips

In October we were invited to go on a beach clean-up with organic clothing Frugi who are based just down the road from us. It was a lovely morning and the sun was shining. Poldhu Cove and Gunwalloe are two gorgeous beaches on the south coast situated on The Lizard Peninsula.

At the end of October, we were invited to China Fleet Country Club’s Halloween Crazy Golf Course. That was a lot of fun! China Fleet is a favourite place of ours, there is so much to do. Their spa experience and afternoon tea are to die for!

In November, we got invited to Silvertone’s opening weekend of the Lap of Lights. Wow-what an amazing experience that was! We travelled up early so we could visit the Interactive museum at Silvertone first. The girls absolutely loved it! In fact, we loved the whole day! Once I’m feeling better I will be writing up a post on Silverstone, It’s on my to-do list!

Things We’ve Tried This Month

Dough-chi – a new frozen treat from Doughlicious

We’ve all heard of Mochi, but now London cookie company, Doughlicious, has come up with something entirely new for frozen sweet snack lovers: Dough-Chi, the delicious new cookie dough covered ice cream treat – ‘cookie dough with an ice cream soul.

They are absolutely amazing! Eat them at any time. All you have to do is take them out from the freezer and leave for 1 minute. I particularly adore the blueberry ones!
