Family Diary and Roundup June 2024

Hello, welcome back to another family diary and roundup. We survived half term! 10 days off school for an autistic child is tough. The school routine missing is tremendously hard for little dot. But if we get into a set routine at home, then it’s even harder when back to school comes around! Anyway, that time is over and now another 7 weeks until the summer holidays!

This past couple of months we have been doing a mini garden makeover getting it ready for summer. We spend hours in the garden so wanted it to be a little more relaxing and more of a sensory experience for little dot. She is a huge sensory seeker!

At the start of the year, we lost our last chicken and decided we were not going to have any more for a while. So we took the chicken coop down and have been transforming the space into a seating area. It’s getting there, I just need to paint the fence and it’s pretty much done!

Here are the before and after pics!

We were kindly sent these gorgeous GlobaLink Solar Festoon Outdoor Lights to review and I think they add a calming and relaxing touch to our garden. What makes these outdoor string solar powered lights great is that they come with a remote control, 4 modes and timer! At 14m long, they went the whole length of our garden fence. There are 4 brightness levels – 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% with 4 light modes: steady on/twinkle/flash/slow fade. You get 3 timers of 3/5/8 hours and a memory function so it will remember your last setting! They are waterproof and shatterproof and you can charge using the solar panel or USB C cable.

Kingsmill Fruit Fingers

The new Fruit Fingers from Kingsmill are perfect for lunchboxes. They are soft, fruity and downright yummy! They come in two favours – Mixed Berry and Apple & Raisin (my favourite!). There are 4 in a pack for £1.30 which works out 32.5p each which I think is very reasonable. Especially if you are trying to make packed lunches on a budget.
