Recommendations for Places To Visit and Things To Do February Half Term In Cornwall

  • Tehidy Woods – 9 miles of paths and 250 acres of woods and lakes to explore.
  • Porthtowan Beach – great for surfing and cave exploring with good cafes and pubs – Blue Bar and The Unicorn on the Beach
  • Godrevey Beach to see the seals – National Trust carpark and great for picnics.
  • Screech Owl Sanctuary
  • The Cornish Seal Sanctuary – We are now in the best time to visit (September – March) to see the rehabilitation of the cute seal pups from around the Cornish coastline.
  • Train from St Erth to St Ives
  • A walk over the causeway to St Michael’s Mount
  • Camel Trail Bike Ride
  • Cardinham Woods – beautiful walks.

The Lost Gardens of Heligan – Home Farm & Neon Roller Disco

We love Heligan and know that so many of you do too, so this half term they invite you to make a date to fall head over heels at home farm.

The barn, home to new piglets, pregnant ewes, Royal Golden Guernsey Goats, donkeys and turkeys will be open to the public with a daily programme of talks and activities. 

Learn about the care that goes into rearing goats and try your hand at grooming them. Hand feed the ewes, meet the poultry and have the opportunity to ask all your porcine questions during piggy question time.

Eden Project – The Scarecrows’ Wedding

Embark on a joyful family adventure at the Eden Project this half-term inspired by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s picture book The Scarecrows’ Wedding, between 14–22 February 2026!

Newquay Zoo

Home to over 130 species of some of the world’s most rare and endangered animals, zoos like Newquay provide unique opportunities for people to see these incredible species up close, and to join in our efforts to protect them for the future. By visiting, you will be helping to continue the care of the animals and supporting our vital wildlife conservation work.

To fuel your adventure, they have food outlets located across site to grab some lunch, a drink or a snack. Kids can run wild and let off some steam in the outdoor play areas. The gift shop is stocked full of unique gifts, cuddly toys and branded souvenirs to purchase, as a memento of your visit.

The Oriental Garden

This beautiful garden showcases a variety of Japanese and Asian plants including Acers and Azaleas. The garden follows a traditional planting style found in Japanese garden design.

Gems of the Jungle

Walk in to this free flying bird exhibit and immerse yourself in the south east Asian jungle. Take a seat on the bench and watch these beautiful songbirds fly around you whilst learning about the plight of song birds in the wild and how threatened they are.

The Tropical House

The Tropical house is home to some of the world creepiest crawlies, slitheriest snakes and beautiful birds. We also have Roxy and Hadar our two-toed Hoffmann’s sloths who can normally be found sleeping high up in the Tropical House during the day.

The Secret Garden

If you would like some peace and tranquillity during your visit, take a stroll through the Secret Garden, located opposite Tippy’s Takeaway. Surround yourself with beautiful trees, plants and wildlife during this short stroll.

They recommend you allow at least 2-3 hours for your visit, to explore and enjoy a great family trip to Newquay Zoo.

Pendennis Castle – February Half Term

Discover what it was like to live, work and fight in a real-life castle!

With acres of green space, a fun family trail and a soft play room near the café, there’s plenty for visitors of all ages to discover and enjoy.

Trelissick Gardens

A welcoming house and garden set in an estate with stunning maritime views and lovely woodland walks.

They are inviting you to dress up and reenact your favourite stories, add your favourite book to the book bunting, and play book-themed games in the stables.

Step into a world of imagination with a storytelling trail through the garden. Collect your trail booklet from the welcome team, then wander through the garden to search for creative prompts that help you dream up your very own story to draw, write, or both.

Once your tale is ready, bring it to life and share it proudly on the stage in the stables, where every storyteller becomes a star.

Paradise Park

You’ll meet amazing wildlife, including stunningly colourful birds including many rare and beautiful parrots, Humboldt’s penguins, Caribbean flamingo, Red-billed choughs, Golden and Bald eagles, kookaburras, hornbills and so many more. A dedicated team of Zoo Keepers care for over 1,200 birds plus, beautiful Red pandas, rare Red squirrels, cute otters and tiny Harvest mice and farm animals, there is a wonderful selection to see.

While exploring the Park on the quiz, enjoy the daily events.

  • Otter Feeding Time
    Katarni, Pippin and their four pups are always hungry! See them at their meal times of 10.30am and 3pm.
  • Penguin Feeding Time
    See the Humboldt’s Penguins being fed and listen to the Keeper talk at the twice daily feeding times, 11am and 2:30pm.
  • Lorikeet Feeding at 12:15pm
    Buy some nectar and help feed these wonderful little parrots, in the Walled Garden ‘Australian Aviaries’.
  • Meet & Greet Session at 1:30pm (weather permitting)
    A chance to meet some of the wonderful characters at the Park with either (or maybe all) of the following… the beautiful ‘Frank’ the European Eagle Owl, our very chatty ‘Popeye’ the Double-yellow headed Amazon, and the lovely ‘Barney’ the Blue & Gold Macaw.
  • Goat and sheep food (limited daily supply)
    Help feed the cute Pygmy goats and Ouessant sheep down on the Fun Farm. There are 150 little bags which are 50p each and available on entry.
  • Jungle Express Train
    On good weather days the Jungle Express Train, will be out for a spin! Board the train near the picnic lawn and set off for two circuits through the gardens of Glanmor House. It’s a small route around the house (not the whole Park) including the top of Parrot Jungle and a trip through the tunnel lit with fabulous Twinkly lights. £1 charge per person, for train times please check when you arrive.

Pirate’s Quest Adventure Golf

Travel back 300 years to the Golden Age of Piracy and let twelve swashbucklin’ holes guide you through our Museum of Cornish Myths, Legends and Pirating past!

The indoor course winds through a selection of immersive 360˚ sets – Explore the mystical caves and murky streets of Eighteenth Century Cornwall, discover local legends of giants and kings, pose for photo in the village stocks or at the ship’s wheel, and travel under the sea in search of our Mermaid.

For those brave enough, grab a glow in the dark golf ball and descend into the daunting depths of Davy Jones’ Locker, a creepy graveyard of lost ships and souls that serves as a final resting place for history’s most dastardly seafarers! This section can be easily avoided by choosing the alternative safe passage.

National Maritime Museum (Falmouth) – Ocean Lab

Saturday February 14th – Sunday February 22nd 2026

Curious minds of all ages are invited to Ocean Lab, their new week of science over February half term. Dive into Discovering42’s Mobile Marvels Exhibition, make a fizzy whizzy rocket, use a robot to create your own unique artwork and go exploring in the trail.

Explore the science of lift-off and make your own DIY rocket using bicarbonate of soda to create a safe, fizz-powered rocket right here in the Museum!

Discovering 42: Mobile Marvels Exhibition

Monday 16 – Friday 20 February, 10 am – 4.30 pm

Dive into hands-on exhibits, mind-bending experiments and weird science with Discovering42. Navigate a giant mechanical maze, experiment with cymatics (sounds and vibration), and even use your body to complete an electrical circuit – plus lots more!

Make & Take

Every day, 12.30 pm to 3.30 pm (last entry 3.15 pm)

Bring the whole family together to decorate your own little robot. Then watch your creations come to life as the Scribblebots buzz and wiggle across the page, making playful artistic drawings as they go.

Museum Trail

Every day, 10am – 5pm.

Experience the Rocket Sensory Trail, a five-stop journey that brings rocket launch and space exploration to life. From roaring engines to orbiting space, visitors can discover hands-on stations exploring sights, sounds, textures, and smells.

Ticket Prices – activities are FREE as part of the Museum’s annual admission fee. Pay once and get in free for a year.

Tate St Ives

Discover 100 years of art, celebrating how West Cornwall has welcomed and inspired artists and revealing new connections to artists from around the world.

Artists include Alfred WallisMarlow MossBarbara Hepworth, Partou Zia, and Bob Law.

Opening Times: Tuesday to Sunday 10.00–16.20. From 1 March the opening times extend to Monday to Sunday, 10.00–17.20

Glendurgan Garden

Follow the winding paths through the garden to spot early spring flowers, budding trees, and wildlife starting to emerge.

With fun prompts and challenges along the way, this self-guided adventure is perfect for families and nature lovers of all ages.

Listen for birdsong, look for tiny shoots breaking through the soil, and feel the first warmth of spring sunshine as you explore Glendurgan’s exotic valleys.

A beautiful, distinctive and intriguing garden with a blend of exotic plants and native wildflower meadows. Visit the ancient cherry laurel hedge maze that sits at the heart of the garden, puzzling visitors for generations and providing much joy and delight for those who choose to get lost along its many winding paths. Walk your way down to the small pebbly sheltered beach on the banks of the Helford River connecting to the South West Coast Path.
