National Stationery Week 24-30th April 2017

Today marks the start of National Stationery Week 2017. Each day throughout the week is a different theme to get involved with in the world of stationery. I think it’s a fantastic idea to go back to basics and have fun with all the different types of stationery out there.

National Stationery Week is a huge supporter of the #writingmatters campaign which is about how important handwriting is all around the world. I have to say I love to pick up a pen or a pencil and just write. I can write much better and faster than I can type!

Top Unusual Gifts For Father’s Day

This year Father’s Day falls on the 18th June, it will be my husband’s second one as a dad, but his first without his own father around. So I want to get him special, yet unusual gifts for Father’s Day.

I always find the best place to find unusual gifts is online. If you search hard enough you can find little website gems, like UncommonGoods which have a fabulous selection of gifts for men for Father’s Day.

Listed below are some of my favourite finds from there.

Cheese & Crackers Serving Board - Unusual gifts for Father's Day

Cheese and Crackers Serving Board.

I love the quirkiness of the board and I’m sure it’s a gift my husband would adore. If you want to go that step further, they also do a personalised chopping board for that extra special gift. Click here for personalised gifts.

“A snack spread simply isn’t a snack spread without cheese and crackers. Highlight the all-important “&” with this text-friendly cheeseboard, made from North American maple and featuring a teak oil finish. When it’s not smartly displaying a hearty feast of brie and rosemary crackers, this handsome design makes an artful addition to your kitchen sideboard or bar tabletop. Made in Dorset, Vermont.”

Help Your Parents To Live Their Life To The Fullest

When you become a mum, it does mean you are likely to spend more time with your own family. So going to see your parents has to go on the back-burner. But if they are senior, it can be a hard adjustment for them to not see you as much. In fact, if they don’t have many friends, it can be a very lonely time for them. Therefore, while you might be a busy mum, you still need to make time for your parents.

In fact, here are some ways you can help your parents to live their life to the fullest.

Get them to look after their grandchildren regularly

It can be overwhelming when you have little ones to look after. But there is a way you can get some help while giving your parents some company too. Arrange with them to take care of your kids at least once a week. You can drop them off in the morning and then you can pick them up later in the day. It will give them a bit of life if they can spend time with their grandchildren. Also, it can help you out too if they take on some of the burden. After all, you can then go and do some jobs around the house, or visit a dear friend with the kids out of the way. And you can all go out on days together too. Your parents will be delighted if you invite them to the beach or the park with your kids!

Tips for Buying a Family Car

When you’re buying a family car, whether it’s your first time or you’re well versed, there are certain things that you should look out for.

Earlier this year I told you about my memories of learning to drive and buying my first car.  That first time buying a car I was looking for a little runaround. Nothing fancy, but I loved my little red fiesta.

When you have a baby, your priorities for your car change. No longer are you looking for something swish or fast, you need a car that will keep your precious cargo as safe as can be. You need something practical and spacious. Of course, these cars can be swish and fast too – it just doesn’t matter as much.

Here are the things that you should look for the next time you’re looking to replace your family car.

The Perfect Gift: Name Your Very Own Star Review

I always get stuck for gift ideas don’t you? For years I have been on the hunt for the ‘perfect gift’ for loved ones in my family who trust me are awkward to buy for. Now I have heard of gifts like buying a square foot of land in Scotland so the gift recipient becomes a Lord – yes I did buy this for my husband, well he was my boyfriend at the time, but I’ve never heard of buying a star for someone.

Stars are much more romantic and special don’t you think. You can look up at the night sky from anywhere in the world and see the stars. I have always been a sort of star-gazer. As a child I used to pretend they were all tiny little worlds with their lights on. Studying the solar system and space at school was one of my favourite things.

Anyway because my husband has his miniscule piece of land in Scotland I decided to give the gift of a star to my daughter. Now she is too young to know what a star is at 13 months old, but I know she will appreciate it when she’s older. Plus if you need a gift for a baby born in the family, why not name a star in their honour? It would make an exciting gift that will stay with them forever.
