5 Upgrades to Make Your Home Office More Productive

Whether you’re already working from home or are on the lookout for a remote job, creating a comfortable home office comes with many benefits. Right now, I am writing this post from my home office, all comfortable and customized to meet my preferences.

But, here’s the catch: working alone gets monotonous and lonely! There are days when you don’t feel like doing any work and decide to procrastinate. But the deadlines are there, and you must get down to work. The good news is that with some upgrades, you can make your home office less stressful, more fun, and conducive to productivity.

To help you create an inspiring work set up, let me share the five quick and easy upgrades to make your home office more productive.

Make Your Home Office More Productive

1. Get a Dedicated Workspace

At the beginning of my career, I didn’t have a dedicated workspace. I used to work from different places in my home, from the dining table to the patio and even the kitchen. As such, I would often get distracted and lose focus. That’s when I planned my dedicated workspace.

To begin with, I bought an ergonomic office stool and table to mark my work territory. This change improved my focus and productivity to a great extent. If you’re planning a home office, pick a spot that’s calm, bright, and airy so you feel active and productive throughout the day.

2. Declutter and Get Organized

If your home office is cluttered and disorganized, be ready to lose focus now and then! Working from home (or anywhere) requires focus, and a messy place is the enemy of focus.

Remove every distracting stuff from your home office, and you’re sure to feel a positive change. Currently, I don’t have anything on my ergonomic adjustable desk except for a lamp, a planner, and my laptop; so clean and peaceful!

3. Get Adequate Lighting

Studies have proven time and again that natural lighting improves mood and spurs productivity. As such, make sure your home office has adequate lighting. If natural light doesn’t get straight to your work desk, you can use warm ambient lights to keep your space lively.

Don’t assume that the laptop’s light will suffice; you need adjustable lighting to be more productive during a workday (or night if you’re a night owl like me).

4. Ergonomic Furniture

I would use a regular chair for work when I started working from home. Then, a couple of weeks down the line, back pain and strain set in! That was not only affecting my productivity but also my health. So, I decided to make a switch to an ergonomic office chair and desk.

An ergonomic chair, when paired with an ergonomic adjustable desk, will make your home office comfortable, work-friendly, and more productive. They will also improve your health and enhance your focus.

Make sure to know your needs and requirements when buying furniture. From my experience, I would recommend Biomorph ergonomic office furniture because their desks and accessories are high-quality, comfortable, and easy to configure. They also come with many features.

For long working hours, an ergonomic office stool or a curved-back chair does the job pretty well. Standing desks are ideal for shared workspaces and for people with backaches.

5. Task Planners

Sure, Google Sheets come in handy for quick scheduling and planning but never ignore the importance of sticky notes and magnetic planners. Once you establish your home office, hang a task planner in front of you. Use it for your daily to-do list and mark your progress by the end of each workday. This tip helped me reduce procrastination and improved my work speed and productivity.
