It’s been a while since I’ve brought you a book-related post. Life with a preschooler and a toddler is nothing but eventful and my reading has been practically nonexistent! So I’m glad to write this post for you today. It’s not one of my “traditional” book reviews, but it’s a good un!

Today I’m on a blog blitz tour for this wonderful Creative Writing Skills book that contains over 70 fun activities for children. Written by Lexi Rees, it’s a workbook that will follow any child through their creative writing journey. Read on for what I thought, plus the chance to win 1 of 2 copies.

What I thought

I’ve never seen another book quite like this one for kids. It takes you step by step through the creative writing process to producing your own stories. It’s full of ideas to get your child starting writing and of course enjoying the process.

I particualry like this page shown below. It’s an A-Z of character traits that can be used to describe the characters in the story being written. The design of the texts of the creative writing book is done in a fun way that will amuse the owner and spur on the creative juices.

The author has broken down the elements for writing a good story, and it makes it an easier approach so you are not feeling overwhelmed.

I think it can be a fun workbook for adults as well as children. It gives good basic skills to learn. It would make a lovely Christmas present for a budding writer!
