10 Years of Blogging – A Look Back Over The Years!

This week marks 10 years of blogging. Crazy isn’t it? To think I could make a living from setting up my own website and writing about – well everything!

10 Years of Blogging - A Look Back Over The Years!

Back in March 2015 we had been through a rough patch of trying to get pregnant and having really rubbish luck. We had 3 miscarriages in under two years, which puts such a toll on your body and mind. And decided after the last one to have a break. If it wasn’t meant to be, it wasn’t meant to be.

Mr B mentioned writing and giving a go at setting up my own blog. So I thought why not? And now here I am 10 years down the line with this same blog and two amazing girls – 9 and 6 years old. Before I started writing about babies and parenting, I would write book reviews and about my competition wins. Yes, back in the day pre-kids I was a huge comper! That was the basis of my blog. If you want to read it, here is my first blog post. OK, it’s not the best blog post – just a few words! I didn’t know then what I know now about blogging!!

10 years of blogging

Going Self-employed!

5 years ago just before the whole country went into lockdown I took a career’s break from my 15 year employed job to blog full time. I had the 3 months planned out on what I could do to boost my income and used these months as a trial. What I don’t bank on was having to homeschool and no nursery care as well as blog!! But it ended up being a very rewarding time and made us reevaluate our future. When May came around, I handed my formal notice in and became full-time self-employed. I’ve never looked back!

Over the years, I’ve had lots of fun writing about the girls’ milestones – from birth stories, to our family diary, day trips, holidays and many toy reviews in between!

Now

Now as they are getting older, we’ve made the decision not to feature the girls as much on the blog. My youngest is autistic and she’s not able to give her consent for featuring on the blog. So it’s unfair of me to do that for her.

So this blog will slowly turn into a more hobby blog for me with lifestyle, Cornish travel and book content as the months go by. These are my passions and what I love to write about!

A few years ago, I enjoyed creating blogs that much that I put together a few others! It’s true what they say, once you get the blogging bug, you just can’t stop!

If you are interested in checking them out, they are:

Home in the Pastures – a home, garden and horse blog

Socially Rach – lifestyle covering songs, numerology and other news and views!

Cornwall Offers – a blog dedicated to Cornwall

And my latest venture! Fiery Panda – over 40s chat – beauty, life, style and travel!

I love creating blogs and writing. Coming up with new ideas and writing my thoughts on things. I’ve always felt imposter syndrome about how an earth I’ve made a career out of this when English was never one of my good subjects at school! If you are reading this Mr Dove, all the way from Australia – I really did try my hardest at school! But science and geography were my best subjects! Not to sing my own trumpet so to speak, but I’m proud of where I am today. Still not everyone I know understands what I do – but hey! I just say I write on websites for a living!

Here is to the next 10 years!
