The team at Speedy Fixings recommends installing post shoes to the wooden posts of your garden fence – this will add extra stability and support whilst protecting the wooden posts against water damage, insect damage and fungal damage.
Colourful garden fences
Even though I agree with the team at Speedy Fixings when it comes to prioritising safety and security, I also believe that we don’t have to compromise on style. Show off your personality and taste by giving your garden fence some colour! Colourful garden fences can be beautiful additions to any garden. Navy blue fence? Go for it. Pink fence? Go for it. Multi-coloured fence? Go for it.
Perhaps a very colourful fence is out of your comfort zone. As Sparkles and Stretchmarks asks, “If a colourful garden fence is too bold for your taste, why not paint your garden fence in a more modest tone? Perhaps a neutral colour for a contemporary feel?”
If you don’t want to spend time painting your garden fence but would still like to add some colour around it, Time with Thea recommends adding some greenery and flowers. “Go for some climbing plants, add some colourful hanging plant pots… the choices are endless!”
Multi-functional garden fences
Make your garden fence even more practical by giving it another function. How to make your garden fence multi-functional? As A July Dreamer mentions in a recent blog post, “there are plenty of ways of making your garden fence multi-functional.” This includes creating a vertical herb garden by hanging plant pots around your fence or even using part of your garden fence as a vertical storage solution for some garden utensils.
