There are Residency Restrictions
Because so many people want to live in Banff, and because of its status as a national park, there are residency restrictions. These rules dictate how many people can live here, where new homes can be built, and what types can be created.
So although it may seem nice to have a residential area that’s not going to get overly crowded, this means it can be hard to find many options when looking at Banff homes for sale.
It’s Not Only Ice And Snow
Although you may know better if you’ve visited during the summer, Banff isn’t winter and snow year-round. In the summer, most of the snow melts away, allowing for lush greenery to emerge. Banff is the oldest national park in Canada. It’s a well-respected and highly protected area that takes any poor behavior very personally. Locals know how important it is to be good to the environment and treat property with respect. Unfortunately, many tourists don’t realize this and treat it like a big party town they can fly through.
When you live here, be aware of the tourist season, and try to keep to yourself at those times so you don’t get swept up into drama or mess that can happen that time of year/
Things Are Very Expensive Here
Scarcity and demand make it so that Banff is incredibly expensive. Rent prices here are often more expensive than mortgages, and over time you’ll see your wallet drain from all of the expenses you’ll have to cover.
While you’re in Banff, it’s a good idea to have more than one source of income or try to save your money to make spending easier.
