1) Strip it down and rebuild it back up
Before anything, you need to completely strip the dressing room down – and by that, I mean take every hanger, drawer, rail etc… out of there and start a fresh! By doing this, you can get a good idea on what sizes you’re going to be working with; take measurements of the area and write them down so you are sure whatever you buy for your dressing room will fit properly. The first step after this would be to get some wardrobes fitted to the walls that do not have doors on them. This will give the area a more open feel about it and appear for the space to appear larger than what it is. Plus, this really helps knowing where items of clothing, shoes, bags etc. are placed.
2) Add a dressing table
I believe this is a crucial step if you really want to make the most of a dressing room – invest in a good quality dressing table! There are so many different types of dressing tables you can have; what material do you want? Maybe you want a mirrored finish, or what about a painted, chic wooden dressing table. What kind of style of dressing table would look best? Maybe you would like to invest in one which has drawers on each side, or possibly only drawers on one side of the dressing table depending on the space you’re working with, possibilities are endless with this! Furniture Plus Online offer some gorgeous dressing tables, from a mirrored finish to painted wood, all at a very good price.
3) Get a pouffe!
A pouffe, or ottoman, really makes your dressing area feel a lot chicer. A pouffe is small enough to not fill the area completely, yet still big enough for you to lounge on whenever you need to take a sip of wine whilst deciding which outfit to wear for the night. There are multiple different styles of pouffes you can get, in multiple different materials, so you are sure to find one that is suited to your taste.
4) It’s the little things that make the biggest difference
This is an important one to keep in mind. By this, what I mean is that there are certain little necessities that will make your life so much easier for organising your dressing room. Why not try screwing a coat hanging rack on the wall and using it as a bag holder. Maybe you could also buy a jewellery holder too, instead of chucking it into the drawer. You could also buy little organisers to fit into your drawers that can be used to separate socks from underwear etc. There are so many different little things that people overlook which are essential to keeping your dressing room looking perfect and organised!
Mirrors are a fantastic way to make a small space appear much larger. For example, if you do choose to get wardrobes with doors, I would recommend opting for sliding mirrored doors. By choosing to do this, you create the illusion of a much larger area, which is especially handy if the room you are working with is relatively small. Also, this is great for taking all of your outfit of the day selfies too!
