On Friday we moved house, it was raining, not typical Summer weather at all, but this didn’t put a damper on how excited I was! I have been dreaming for months about how I want to design the interior of my new home. With it being Summer, I want that warm, fresh yet stylish look.
It’s a new build I’m moving into so the garden is going to be turfed, this means we won’t be able to use the garden for weeks while the turf settles in and the grass is nurtured to grow. This sounds like hell for me over the Summer months as the garden is my favourite place.
So I want to come up with lots of #InteriorInspirations ideas for keeping me sane inside this Summer. To start with I have created another mood board. I loved the last one I made on New Bedroom Ideas.
This mood board is full of Summer ideas and warm colours. I love the idea of picnics in the garden in the hotter months.
Back in April I had the opportunity to choose the kitchen, carpets, bathroom flooring and tiles. I knew then that I wanted lots of creams and browns with a wood effect worktop for the kitchen. I total change from my last house, which was black and grey tones.
I love having that warm feeling when you walk in the door especially if it’s been a hard day at work, or it’s raining outside. I’ve always been a fan of the country cottage style.
When we got to the show homes and offices back in April I had an idea of what I wanted for the kitchen worktops. It was this oak block effect design. It was then a matter of choosing everything to go with it!
I love that the had the worktop and doors removable so you could easily swop and change them around to find the best combination. The dark wood effect laminate flooring for the kitchen is stunning!
There was a huge range of designs to pick from for the bathroom vinyl. In the end we went for this stone effect grey and cream vinyl.
I’ve never been good at choosing carpets, they all seem to similar shades of browns and greys, so my husband chose for us!
Our new living room. I do love the shade of the carpet. Baby girl in other words is not a fan! She found the first time entering our new house hard. Burst into tears when we came in on Friday and within 5 minutes was sick all over the brand new carpet! Luckily now she has settled back in fine and loves exploring her new house.
Our new house is a blank canvas so the past couple of days we have been going around the shops hunting for curtains, a new standy up lamp, curtain poles and what not. It’s been fun….not for my bank balance though!
Don’t forget if you are moving house like I just did to remember to get home insurance. Chill Insurance can safeguard your property and give you a piece of mind.
So here it is, my finished kitchen. I hope you like it as much as I do! It’s totally been worth the wait!
As Summer is now upon us here are some tips on preparing your home for the hotter months. It’s something we are thinking about now as we are decorating.
- Keep the sun’s heat out by closing the curtains during the day.
- Buy some fans to move the air around the room.
- Turn the lights off.
- Create a through breeze by opening opposite doors and windows.
- Create a cooling effect in a hot garden by installing a water feature.
Thanks for stopping by today.
