Eating Outdoors is The Best, And Here’s Why

When we go on holiday, we usually like to sit outside on the terrace and soak up the views. We breathe in the fresh air and eat delicious food that we might not typically have at home. Eating outdoors is the best and it has become more common in the last few years, and it adds a new dimension to the eating experience.

But why is it good for us to eat outside?

Eating Outdoors is The Best, And Here's Why

Soothing

You know the feeling when you are sitting outside eating hot pie and chips in a countryside pub and can hear the birds chirping around you? Well, being outside, even in our gardens, gives us that soothing feeling that only nature can provide us with.

It is shown that being outside lowers our stress levels and can help us unwind a little bit more than when we eat inside. Of course, you’ll need a great set of outdoor furniture like those from Poplar Nurseries.

Fresh air

No matter how great the breeze in your home is, it will never live up to the freshness of being outside.

Even the little bit of a cool breeze can be a tonic after a day that you have been too busy or had a long day.

Although home working has been the norm for a while, typically, people are cooped up in offices with recycled air and a set thermostat.

Eating outside gives a sense of freedom after sitting in a cubicle or behind a service till all day.

All important Vit D

Most of us just don’t get enough vitamin D these days. It’s not hard to come by; it’s just that we are so busy with life indoors that we don’t always get what we need. Sitting outside for a while as you eat can help you build up those all-important vitamin D stores.

From March to the end of September, we can get much of what we need in terms of vitamin D from sunlight, but after that, it’s all about what you eat.

Combine the two and eat foods rich in vitamin D while outside, and you’re on to a winner.

Social

Even if you aren’t the most social person, you are surrounded by people if you eat outside in a restaurant. Sometimes you talk, others you don’t, but it can be excellent for a short time to be surrounded by other people.

During times of social distancing, sitting outside with friends and family has been some of the most important things to spend time together.

Better snooze

Of course, after a delicious warm meal, we might be a little bit sleepy, but when you combine it with a hefty dose of fresh air – sleep can come more easily.

The tasty food, even when cooked at home, combined with the stress reduction of fresh air, means that we are more likely to be able to relax when we finally get to bed.

Eating outdoors is the best, it is one of life’s little enjoyable things, and it’s good for us too.

You don’t even need to sit down with the whole family; a little tea break can be a great moment in the day. But what to dunk? The Best Biscuits For Your Tea Break.
