It’s been a really busy few months! The last time I got around to writing our family diary and roundup post was back in the Summer! You can read this one here. Since that post, Dottie left preschool and started school. It’s been an adventure! Put it that way, but I feel now she’s really settling in and has formed a great bond with her 1:1 TA. We went on a last-minute family holiday in the October half-term and had some lovely relaxing weekends throughout November.
September 2022
It was a huge change for Dottie starting school. Getting her to wear her uniform, was a biggy to start. She never went in on her first day, she was upset and all out of sorts that first morning. But it was OK. I actually never went to school on my first day either! However the second day she was totally fine. She got her dress, jumper and leggings on and she walked to school fine! It was for 3 hours to start and I’m so glad it was as that was plenty for her to take in. Just before the October half term, she completed a full week every day and we were so proud.
Her speech and communication has vastly improved over the last few months. She is definitely communicating more to us and mixing with others.
L started year 2 in September. She loves school so much and learning everything. She settled in straight away and picked up her after school sports and recorder clubs.
October 2022
When half term came around in October, we all needed a break. So we went on a lovely holiday to Landal Darwin Forest for 4 nights. It’s the first time we’ve been back to Derbyshire since early January 2020 before Covid. If you have been a long-time reader of my blog you will know that Mr B’s family live in Derbyshire so for many years we’ve been heading up that way for holidays. But this is the first time we’ve stayed at Darwin Forest. It was so lovely that yesterday I booked our summer holiday there for next August!
November 2022
November saw us going t birthday parties, flu vaccinations, autumn walks and taking it easy. Dottie gets so tired after a full week at school, so when the weekends come around she doesn’t want to do much. She wears herself out jumping/stimming and is always on the go, so each day at school is exhausting for her. She has been wanting to go to bed at 5 pm and then will sleep until 4 am. Which of course means a really early wake-up! It’s been hard to get her out of this sleep cycle, but, last weekend she had an afternoon nap and so went to bed later and woke up later. Fingers crossed this has sussed it! I don’t think I can take any more 4 am wake-up calls!
