Family Diary and Roundup August 2024

It only feels like I was writing our July roundup yesterday, but here I’m back with the Family Diary and Roundup for August 2024, which is crazy! We have just under 2 weeks of the summer holidays left. This is the first summer in a few years we haven’t gone away and have had a “staycation” as you call it! But when you live in Cornwall, there are so many beautiful places to see, we haven’t missed going away. We have found some new walks and places to go which we can’t wait to go back to again.

What We’ve All Been Up To!

My older sister was over from Canada for 3 weeks which was fantastic. We spent lots of quality time together and visited some great places together. Those 3 weeks went super fast and it was sad to see her go back again. But it’s only 4 months before she will be back again for Christmas.

Little Dot has had her top front teeth super wobbly for a few weeks now and she finally pulled them out! The first few weeks of the holidays were tough for her. The change of not going to school and the lack of a rigid routine is very hard. However this week, she’s found her way and we’ve had fewer meltdowns and frustrations. It’s always like this, after a few weeks at home she’s like de-schooled, and then before we know it, it’s back to school again and getting back into another routine!

L has been busy learning Japanese over the holidays with Duolingo. She’s really good at it! We set up a Rooster card for her, and she’s been doing chores around the home earning money. She’s growing up so fast! She’s also had slapped cheek this week which has been miserable for her. It seems to be going around at the moment.

Mr B has had two weeks off from work, which has been a great help to me! Having the two of us around during the school holidays makes life so much easier. We have been doing lots of tidying, decluttering and gardening in between our daily trips out and about around Cornwall. It’s been lots of fun!

And now me! So as well as juggling everything I’ve been working on a college course about Understanding Autism and a few days ago I found out I passed. I’ve always loved learning and by doing this course it’s helped me understand Dot much more and how I can push to get the right help she needs.
