Father’s Day is always tough for me since I lost my dad. But I have Mr B to think of and he’s an amazing dad to the girls. So I’ve been having a brainstorm and thinking of things to do with dad this Father’s Day in Cornwall. We already have a superhero father’s day card lined up. L loves superheroes so very apt that she wants to get a card with one on for her dad!
Take him for a walk at The Lost Gardens of Heligan
Having a lovely walk with your father is a wonderful thing to do. It’s an ideal time to have a chat and look around at the scenery. There is no better place to do this than at Heligan Gardens. There are 200 acres to explore, through the gardens, farmland and woodland. You can stop off at the restaurant for a wonderful roast dinner afterwards.

A round of golf
If your dad is a gold fan then take him out for a round on one of Cornwall’s fabulous golf courses. There are many to choose from including China Fleet Golf Club in Saltash, Newquay Golf Club, Carlyon Bay Golf Club, West Cornwall Golf Club in Hayle, Mullion Golf Club, Perranporth Gold Club and if you are really looking for a special golf club, try out St Enodoc Golf Club in Rock. Which is the 87th best golfing spot in the world!
See a show at The Hall For Cornwall
The Hall For Cornwall has recently opened up again after a multi-million pound refit, so this would be the ideal time to watch a show with your dad and find out what it’s all about. Over the Father’s Day weekend there is the fantastic Sensational 60s Experience showing. Later on, in June Dionne Warwick and the Lord of the Dance are great shows to go and see.
A spot of fishing
There are many stunning places to go fishing in Cornwall. If you want to fish from the harbour, then get down to Polperro or Mevagissey. For rock fishing and beach fishing, great places include Porth Joke beach, Porthtowan, Portreath, Rock, Watergate Bay and Whipsiderry Beach. If you are looking to fish for Mackeral in Cornwall, your best bet is Prussia Cove and Cudden Point. Also areas around Newlyn, Mousehole and Lamorna are good catch sites.
Relaxing spa session
Dad’s, as well as mum’s, deserve a relaxing spa time! I wrote a post a while back on the 7 best spa breaks in Cornwall with some great ideas on places to take him for the afternoon. Just don’t tell mum!
Take him on a brewery tour
I’ve saved one of the best things to do with dad this Father’s Day in Cornwall until last. And that is to take them on a brewery or cider tour! Cornwall brewery tours are great things to do with dad. Down here we brew some of the best beers, ciders and gins you will find anywhere! Places to go for a tour and of course a sample would be the St Austell Brewery, Healey’s Cornish Cider Farm, Sharp’s Brewery in Rock and Skinner’s Brewery in Truro. Remember to check their websites for times and dates.
