The time is nearly here to head to the fields and pick your pumpkin. Over the last few years, it’s got very popular in the UK and is a perfect family outing for everyone. Here are a few of the best spots to go pumpkin picking in Cornwall and Devon. As well as Halloween activities for all.

Cornwall
Trevaskis Farm – Hayle, Cornwall
We absolutely love this place. You can spend a few hours here looking around the farm before picking your pumpkin from the field. There is a fantastic farm shop and restaurant as well. With a dessert counter to die for, trust me!

Pick Your Own Pumpkins at Splattenridden Farm
Dates: 24th and 31st of October between 9am and 4pm no need to book.
Price of pumpkin depends on size. From £2.50 to £4.50

Lobbs Autumn Fest
Their annual Autumn Fest and pumpkin picking will be held from Saturday 24th to Tuesday 27th October.
This year it is essential to pre-book your tickets by calling the shop on 01726 844411.
Tickets are £6.00 per child, which includes a tractor and trailer ride to the pumpkin field where you can pick your own pumpkins, and a hay bale photo booth to record your finds.
Every booking will also receive a 10% shop discount voucher.

Heligan Gardens – Heligan Harvest
Heligan’s traditional harvest display of produce will be joined by photographic displays of previous Heligan harvests, Heligan wildlife and People & Gardens as well as displays revealing a photographic window to its pre-restoration past.
On the Heligan Estate, you are invited to jump into the heart of the season and dive into mud, glorious mud! Mud adventures of giant puddles are being created to inspire soil connections before everyone can dry off around the firepit for some marsh mellow toasting.
Their rare breed livestock also becomes part of the harvest experience as resident shire horse Courage, puts on a display on harvest Saturdays, The piglets take the stage with weekday feeding and the team are joined by local farmer Norman Delgarno for the popular working dog demonstrations.
The Heligan Kitchen will be cooking up a storm of harvest-inspired lunches full of seasonal produce and Heligan’s award-winning Leek and Heritage Pork Sausage will be showcased on the aptly named ‘Sausage Saturday’ 31st October.

Halloweek at Camel Creek
Can you handle the scares? From the Witch’s grotto, to tricks and treats, there is something for everyone! They even have a REWARD up for grabs if you can help them catch the escaped prisoners around the park.

Halloween at Paradise Park
Activities include:
- Otter feeding at 10:30 am and 4 pm.
- Carrot feeding the animals in the Fun Farm at 11 am.
- Penguin feeding at 11 am and 3 pm.
All-day fun in the JungleBarn play centre as you immerse yourself and burn off some energy with tube slides, squeeze rollers and roller poles, spinning steps, Astra Slide, the Big Blue, Drop and Double Drop slides, special toddlers’ soft play area and more.
Kid’s Halloween Disco Friday 30th October 2020
On Friday the 30th of October things get more spine-tingling with the Kids Halloween Disco between 3 pm and 6 pm. Prizes for best fancy dress… will you be a zombie, witch, skeleton, monster? Plus, tasty spooky food and pumpkin soup available in the Otter Pool Cafe!
Tickets for the disco are available to buy at reception on the day. Please check the Park website nearer the time for ticket prices.

Pick your own pumpkin at Puxton Park’s Pumpkin Patch this October!
Thousands of pumpkins for you to pick from and once you’ve picked your perfect pumpkin, bring it into the park to paint it!

I’ve never been pumpkin picking myself but love this list.
Let’s hope that as many as possible of these farms and venues are able to offer something for Halloween. Picking pumpkins is a surprisingly fun day out.
