Well, you can enjoy the best that Cornwall – the stunning beaches and coastal areas right up close. Camping by the sea is the best place to relax and unwind. But where can I find the best touring caravan sites in Cornwall to explore this year? Here I will share with you some insider knowledge on the best caravan holidays in Cornwall.

St Austell

One of the best areas to base your caravan holiday is in St Austell. It’s pretty central to most areas and it’s close to attractions such as the Eden Project and Heligan Gardens. In fact, there is a caravan and camping park right next door to The Gardens of Heligan and it’s one that is open all year round. The Heligan Caravan and Camping Park is close to beautiful Mevagissey, dog friendly, and set around gorgeous woodlands. Alternatively, down the road is Pentewan Sands Holiday Park located on the beach. A stunning 5 star rated park with two swimming pools, soft-play centre, amusement arcade, tennis courts, and a water sports centre. Open from the end of March to the end of October.

Newquay and Perranporth

If you are into your surfing then a caravan holiday in the Newquay/Perranporth area is a must. Perranporth beach is a large sandy beach with some of the best surfing conditions in the county. You can stay right on the beach at Perran Sands Holiday Park. It has its own private beach access! Oh and remember to have your insurance in place before you travel with your caravan, you can save money just compare various touring caravan insurance quotes online. A firm favourite is Monkey Tree Holiday Park. Situated about 10 minutes from both Perranporth and Newquay its a great central base for a surfing holiday! They have a fabulous choice of caravan and camping pitches, from standard non-electric pitches to those with hardstanding, electricity, water supply, and mains drainage. It’s open from the end of March to the end of October. In fact, if you are into family travel with a motorhome, then the Monkey Tree Holiday Park is perfect for everyone as they have lots of live music events and fun days! Just like going to a festival!

If you are looking for a quieter, scenic campervan stay to relax and unwind then the award-winning Trevella Park at Crantock is the place to be. Crantock is a short drive from Newquay and has a glorious sandy beach for sunbathing! At Trevella Park you will find a heated outdoor pool, fishing lakes, mini-golf, and stylish geodomes for glamping if that’s your thing!

St Ives

Further down into Cornwall you have St Ives. An ideal spot with lots of places to explore such as the Tate Art St Ives Gallery, Barbara Hepworth museum and sculpture gardens, and the stunning Porthmeor beach. This golden sandy beach with a glorious blue sea will make you think you are abroad on holiday! A stunning 5 star touring caravan park in St Ives is the Polmantor Touring Park. It comes with a large swimming pool, tennis courts, spa, and mini-golf. As well as direct buses to the beach! Open from Easter until October.

Another touring park worth mentioning if you are looking to stay near St Ives is the Trevalgan Touring Park. It’s about 2 miles from St Ives with coastal and countryside views. They have various pitches, from camping on grass without electric to pitching up on hardstanding with water, drainage and a 16-Amp hook-up. They are open from the 1st of May to the 30th of September.

  1. It must be wonderful to go camping by the sea in Cornwall. Although we have a great affection for Cornwall, we’ve only ever been to Newquay. We might be a bit hesitant to explore other areas until our children are a bit older because they adore Newquay so much. Additionally, it takes us a long 9-hour drive to get there.

  2. For a caravan owner who lives in Cornwall it’s near impossible since Covid-19 to actually get a seasonal pitch. I have my caravan in storage and being disabled, I wonder if any one can find me an around pitch.

  3. Camping by the sea in Cornwall must be amazing. We absolutely love Cornwall but we have only ever been to Newquay, I think as the children love it there so we are a little scared to go anywhere else until they get a little older. Plus it is a 9 hour drive from us.
