Fabric vs Faux Leather for your Living Room

When choosing your living room furniture have you thought about going with faux leather instead of the normal fabrics? Since moving into our new house last Summer I’m still debating on fabrics for the sofas. Plus I’m sure my husband would love a recliner to kick back and relax in.

In fact my mum is currently looking at reclining chairs for my elderly father. She only told me this yesterday as he needs a comfortable chair to sit in to ease his aches and pains. So I mentioned to her about Fenetic Wellbeing, who I’m working with on this post to highlight the pros of faux leather recliners. While browsing through reclining chairs with her online it seems that when it comes to style, practicality and durability faux leather seems to be a number one choice.

How to inject more personality into your property

Often, when you first move into a property, you’ve got something akin to a blank canvas on which, to continue the art metaphor, you can let yourself loose with some of your own painting.

Making your home look more like yours could involve literally painting, though there are various other means by which you could visually revamp the residence.

Here are some examples of how you could help make the house a better reflection of your own personality.

Impress with your “opening statement”

What’s the scene that people first see upon entering your property? You should take this into account as you look for ideas of what to place in view of anyone who passes through your front door. What you should primarily aim to do here is provide an immediate glimpse of your character.

In an article for The Washington Post, fashion blogger Candace Ourisman hails her own “graphic wallpapered dining room”, which is “the first thing you see when you enter our house.”

4 Ways to Heat your Kitchen this Winter

The clocks have gone back, the nights are drawing in and temperatures have definitely dropped. So you need a way to heat your kitchen this Winter.

If you’re already planning a kitchen, then you might well have spent a lot of time pondering the type of bespoke cabinetry you want or worktops, splashback materials and the appliances you and your family will need to keep things running smoothly. You might have even started to think about lighting and wall colours but the one thing that can often make or break the usability of a kitchen – particularly during the winter months – is often not given nearly enough thought.

4 Ways to Heat Your Kitchen this Winter

How you heat your kitchen, whether it’s radiators, a cast-iron range that runs the central heating, or underfloor heating, your choice will have a huge impact not just on how you use your kitchen when it’s complete but how you design the room from its inception.

Small Living Room Ideas, Designs and Inspiration

The living room is my favourite room in the house. It’s where we spend the most time. The space we have isn’t the biggest but I do love the coziness of it. We have been living here for 4 months so now is the time to think about how we want our space to be.

5 Ways To Make Your Home Cosy This Winter

As Autumn leaves us, Winter is coming (sorry I had to put that I’m a huge Game of Thrones fan!) and it’s time to get your home cosy for Winter. Winter is such a fabulous time of the year. You have crisp cold mornings and dark cosy evenings. Perfect for snuggling up by the fire with a good book and a hot chocolate.

Of course Winter also means Christmas. For us this is family time, when my older sister comes over from Canada and we have huge get togethers. Eating lots of food, playing silly games and having a laugh. That’s what it’s all about.

I have come up with 5 ways to make your home cosy this Winter, and to help you get ahead before the Christmas plans come into place.

How To Prepare a Guest Bedroom

With less than 12 weeks until Christmas it’s time to start thinking about preparing for guests staying with you. Most people have family members stay with them over Christmas and we are no exception. My sister lives in Canada but always comes home for Christmas. She normally spends time at mum’s and with us, but because we moved into our new house back in June, the guest bedroom still needs some love. It’s the one room we use to dump unpacked boxes in!

By taking part in Bed Guru’s #GuestBedReady campaign it gives me the perfect excuse to declutter the room.  Get it to how I want it to be – the perfect guest bedroom to get a great night’s sleep!

The main focus of a guest bedroom is of course the bed. I always prefer a normal divan bed for the spare bedroom because they can come with storage drawers underneath which is perfect for storing the spare bedding. Bed Guru has a great selection of guest beds to suit any guest bedroom.
