Now that L is in reception and getting on very well with her reading, we have found ourselves reading a couple of books everyday. One that she reads and one book I read to her. Although she picks out quite a few words! The teachers are very impressed with her reading and she was straight onto level 2 within a couple of weeks. She loves books with animals in so we were sent The Mingoes and their Amazing Adventures to check out.

The Mingoes and their Amazing Adventures

Book Description

I really hope you get to know and enjoy the hilarious antics of these birds; lanky and leggy, some say ugly. But they seem to be quite endearing. The birds are not that clever but one stands out and acts as the head of the flock. They don’t have names, quite simply, even if you gave them one they would never remember it so the head of the flock calls himself Number 1 and all the rest are called Number 2. Number 1 loves to watch humans, and you will see how he drags his flock far and wide to try and copy their antics with hilarious results.

What We Think

The Mingoes and their Amazing Adventures is a wonderful book that sends your imagination wild! It’s extremely descriptive, which makes it perfect for reading aloud to children. My L is tickled by it. Her favourite verse is about Bingo the Mingoe who couldn’t sneeze. They are very humorous little adventures, that loved to be read over and over again!

We think it’s one of those adorable books that you can go back to if you need a little laughter and cheering up. With all the profit proceeds relating to this book going to the MNDA I think it’s a great addition to your library.

We can’t wait to read more of the Mingoes adventures!

  1. In lockdown will be missing my grandchildren. I’d love this to read to them over wifi, it’s a virtual quality time with them.

  2. I love books and am trying to pass that down to my grandchildren. I think they’d enjoy this so would love to win.
