Book Description

FIVE STRANGERS IN FLORENCE, EACH WITH A DANGEROUS SECRET. AND AN APOCALYPTIC FLOOD THREATENING TO REVEAL EVERYTHING.

wife on the run, a student searching for stolen art, a cleaner who has lined more than his pockets, a policeman whose career is almost over, and a guest who should never have received a wedding invite. Five strangers, entangled in the forger’s wicked web, amidst Florence’s devastating flood of November 1966.

In a race against time, and desperate to save themselves and all they hold dear, will their secrets prove more treacherous than the ominous floodwaters swallowing the historic city?

Dive into a world of lies and deceit, where nothing is as it seems on the surface…

What I Thought

A completely new type of book for me to read. First impressions – what an eye-catching cover that drew me in! The Forger and the Thief is beautifully written. You are pulled in to the characters, what makes them tick, their fears, and who they actually are. Not all are likable. Each character has their own chapter, so it seems like a few short stories all woven into a dark twisty novel where death, greed, and secrets are rife. There is an element of fact thrown into this book, with the great 1966 flood in Florence. But that is where real life ends. The author has a vivid magical imagination, her words flow elegantly and you won’t be able to put it down.

  1. I like the fact each character has its own chapter, like you say, sounds like lots of little stories that all link up. Sound likes a good read.

  2. I love the sound of this one. I have a real fascination with art theft and forgery stories, for some bizarre reason! I’m definitely adding this to my ‘to read’ list
