What I’m up to on the Blog in 2019
I’m back to work in a couple of days after finishing maternity leave, I will of course be still going with this blog. Blogging is my way of life, and of course my job now. It’s allowed me to drop down to part-time as well, so I can spend more time with my girls. One of my 2018 goals was to consistently earn a part time wage from my blog and that was achieved.
In 2019 Rachel Bustin has been going for 4 years. I’ve had her nearly as long as I’ve had the Bustin name! I spend every evening blogging. Writing posts, scheduling, working on my social media. But being a busy mum I do find it hard to achieve all that I want to. Nevertheless I have my to do lists and goals, plugging away at them when I can. I have lots of plans for this blog and where I want it to go, I listened to some advice the other day on content strategy, content buckets and planning ahead and it’s given me the spark I needed to push, instead of just getting by.
I have spent my spare time over Christmas redesigning and choosing a new colour scheme for my blog. I’m lucky that with my Pipdig theme you can change the colours to whatever you wish. I hope you like it as much as me!
Blog Goal 1
One of my biggest goals for 2019 is to go back over some 1000 blog posts and re purpose them. Add in updates, make them current and play around with the images. I’ve started already on one of my 2019 goals and that’s to conquer Pinterest and drive traffic to here from there. It’s got a good start already.
I’ve had a really long think over Christmas about the purpose of my blog (except it being like a diary of mine) and how I can use it to help others. I’m sure there are others like myself out there, you maybe one of them! That want’s to stay at home with their kids, but cannot afford it. Well before I started my second maternity leave I was full time in what I call my “day job”. I would be blogging away every evening building this blog up. But I knew that with another baby there was no way I could work full time, run a household with two kids under three and blog. So by working HARD on my blog all last year I’ve turned it into a profit making blog and a side earner for us. Allowing me to go back to work for a few mornings a week. This way I spend every afternoon at home and when the school run starts next year, I will be on school pick up everyday.
Blog Goal 2
Yes I am getting to my point! So my aim with Rachel Bustin is to help working mums like myself, start up a blog and help to take the financial pressure off your household, while still being at home with the kids. If someone like me, with no university degrees, is pretty rubbish at grammar and spellings can do it, you can do it too!
Nowadays everyone has their smart phone to hand and Google tips, how-to’s and hacks to get tasks done. Well I want to be able to help mum’s find these answers to their questions and queries and sharing my experiences.
Blog Goal 3
This leads me on to blog goal number three, I want to help mum’s to make better decisions, by sharing my mum hacks and tips.
I think 2019 is going to be a busy year for me. I’m looking forward to new blogging challenges and building my readership with you. I hope you will join me on my journey.
As always, thanks for taking the time to stop by and read my post, I appreciate it very much.
I wish you and your family a Happy New Year!
