Review: The Twist Curling Wand from Xtava

It’s been awhile since I curled my hair, in fact I have always been a fan of straightening it. So when I was accepted to review this curling wand from xtava, I thought it was a good time to put some curls into my hair, long bouncy curls not tight ringlets.

I was pleasantly surprised at the packaging, you see the curling wand is a steal at only £20. It’s packaging would suggest a price at the top end, maybe closer to £80-£100. Inside the geometric designed box is another hard black box which contains the travel pouch containing the curling wand. Also included is a heat-resistant glove and instruction booklet.

Features

  • The curling wand features a tapered 25 – 38mm ceramic barrel with cool tip for creating voluminous beach waves or curls, 22 temperature settings between 90 – 210 C, universal dual voltage, and a 60 minute automatic sleep function.
  • It features ionic technology to prevent frizz. The long tapered barrel is coated in ceramic and tourmaline to preserve hair health. Great for styling long or short hair.
  • You can choose from 22 temperature settings on an LCD digital display, ranging from 90 – 210 C. Start between 90 – 150 C for delicate or fine hair types, 150 – 190 C for normal hair, and 190 – 210 C for thick or coarse hair types like mine.
  • I love the long 2.7m 360 degree swivel cord.

How To Use

The curling wand is very simple to use, turn it on adjust the temperature and wait for it to heat up. Which it does so very fast as you watch the digital display. Curl your hair around the barrel and leave for 8-10 seconds, then pull the barrel away and voila a curl! It does suggest to use a heat spray to protect hair before curling. Be careful as the barrel of the wand gets super hot, so I would suggest wearing the heat protection glove included.

Use the top end of the barrel for smaller tighter curls and the wider bottom end for larger looser curls.

My Thoughts

Fantastic value for money, it would also make a fabulous gift. Easy to use, great results, temperature variable for different types of hair and the perfect lead length for getting to a mirror. It’s not overly heavy so it won’t give you tired arms over a longer period of time, and I love the digital display, it gives it a more expensive feel.

I have a curling wand too. They’re fab for making hair a little bit bouncier!
