*Ad-gifted: I received these Locks in Goodness hair products in exchange for this post.
L naturally has wavy hair with ringlet curls at the bottom. This makes brushing when dry hard going at times. I’m always looking for products to try on her hair that are natural and can deal with the frizz.
We were sent a couple of new products to try from Locks in Goodness. One was a hair smoothie and the other a hair gel. L tried out the hair smoothie on bath night, and Mr B gave the hair gel a go. Even though they are children’s products Mr B found it was also OK to use on his hair.
To formulate the smoothie, they blended a dollop of organic aloe leaf juice with a little water, added a small nub of shea butter and mixed it with more 100% plant-based products. Then infused it with hair-loving oils like argan, coconut, avocado and jojoba with a dash of essential oils to create our exclusive smoothing and detangling leave-in conditioner which is 90% organic and completely vegan.
I can honestly say that I’m not a huge fan of the smell of the smoothie or the hair gel. I think it’s the shea butter giving them a slight smell. It’s not unpleasant, but a little different, that you do get used to overtime. Personally I would like more of the coconut scent present.
As the smoothie is only preserved by natural essential oils including tea tree, eucalyptus clove oil and Rosemary oil, it is also great for helping to prevent those unwanted nits and lice! This is fantastic for L going to preschool. I will use anything to prevent nits!
I love that they use sugar cane tubes for packaging that are 100% recyclable, sustainable and made from renewable raw materials. We are all trying to do our bit to reduce plastic in our lives.
The hair smoothie was easy to apply to L’s hair when damp. I used a wide-toothed comb to spread through her hair. It helped free up the tangles and I noticed when her hair was dry it was frizz-free!
The hair gel is specially formulated with a 100% naturally derived hair fixative to give the hair great hold without building-up or weighing the hair down. Spike it, shape it, fix it!
Obviously I don’t have a son to try out the hair gel, so I persuaded Mr B to give it a go. He found it easy to apply, fix and shape his spike into place. Like me, he wasn’t 100 % keen on the smell, but it’s all-natural and you get used to it over time.
With both products being 100% plant-based they contain no parabens, petrochemicals, synthetics, sulphates, silicones, talcs, SLS, parfum or any nasties.
