Happy Monday! I’ve been reading this fabulous book over the weekend in the garden. It’s called *An Island of Secrets by Eva Glyn. If you are a fan of Dinah Jefferies, Victoria Hislop, Lucinda Riley and Rosanna Ley, then this stunning and sweeping WW2 novel shows a side to the war not often seen before and will be perfect for you. What I Thought

A beautiful read. Friendship, family, love and heartbreak, it will make you weep with sadness and laugh with joy. I love how the author seamlessly blends the two timelines together, Set in WW2 and the present day, you meet the brilliant characters of Guy and his granddaughter Leo. They strike up and strengthen the bond between them as Leo is coming out of a failed marriage and needs to leave her job in the city. She travels to Vis and takes on her grandfather’s quest to find out answers for him back 75 years ago.

I read this book over a couple of days and would have read it sooner if I had the chance. Its atmosphere, the courage, the characters, and the way the island is described make it very much real. Thank you!

Author Bio

Eva Glyn writes escapist relationship-driven fiction with a kernel of truth at its heart. She loves to travel and finds inspiration in beautiful places and the stories they hide.

Her last holiday before lockdown was a trip to Croatia, and the country’s haunting histories and gorgeous scenery have proved fertile ground, driven by her friendship with a tour guide she met there. His wartime story provided the inspiration for The Olive Grove and his help in creating a realistic portrayal of Croatian life had proved invaluable. Her second novel set in the country, a dual timeline looking back to World War 2, will be published in the spring of 2022, also by One MoreChapter.

Eva lives in Cornwall, although she considers herself Welsh, and has been lucky enough to have been married to the love of her life for twenty-five years. She also writes as Jane Cable.
