The End of Month Roundup – January/February 2022

Last year I really enjoyed writing up our end of month roundup posts. Life flies past really fast nowadays and it’s good to reflect back over the past month. With the girls growing up fast, I know I will treasure these posts in the future. Even if they are just snippets of our life. L has turned 6 years old this month. It’s crazy to think I’ve been a mother for that long! It only seems like yesterday she was a baby.

L 6th Birthday

We have had a busy couple of months with school, birthday parties and preschool, getting colds and doing lots of weekend walks! I did manage to get in the garden and plant my bulbs right at the start of January. And now they are beginning to peek through the ground! Like many of you, I can’t wait for Spring and the warmer drier weather!

We had a couple of visits to the Eden Project in January and February. During the winter months, they kindly do free entry days for locals, teachers and blue light cardholders. We love it there!

Things We’ve Tried

Purdy & Figg

It was great to learn about Purdy & Figg. A new eco-friendly surface cleaner transforms cleaning into pleasure through natural essential oils and looking after the environment at the same time. It’s so easy to make up with tap water. The smell is so beautiful and fresh. I’ve been using it every day on my kitchen worktops. We received the starter bundle pack which includes a Glass Bottle For Life and 3 Eco-Concentrate Refills. Each refill will last you for a month. The concentrate is all-natural, made in the UK. It will cut through grease, grime and dirt making it gentle yet effective.

Poo-Pourri

Poo-Pourri is the wellness, lifestyle and natural odour elimination brand, founded by Suzy Batiz in 2007, that uses a unique blend of natural essential oils and compounds to absorb any unpleasant smells around the home. Poo-Pourri uses no aerosols, alcohol, parabens, phthalates, formaldehyde, synthetic fragrance within their products, which are also cruelty-free and not tested on animals.

The brand has sold over 100 million bottles worldwide with over 100,000 5* reviews.  The products can also be used around the home!

There are many scents to choose from including Wild Poppy Berry (mixed berries, poppies and nectar), Original Citrus (Lemon, Bergamot and Lemongrass) or Lavender Vanilla (lavender, vanilla and citrus).  The bottles are beautiful and are fully recyclable.

We have discovered that Poo-Pourri has made the home smell wonderful! Especially our downstairs loo, where we keep the muddy boots, and wet weather gear! I’m particularly pleased with the Shoe Odor Eliminator Spray. It’s been a godsend for wellies that have gotten wet inside from muddy puddle splashing and Mr B’s sweaty gym clothes!

Books I’ve Read

I always love to do a little roundup of all the books I’ve read throughout Jan/Feb. I’ve really got into historical fiction at the moment. All of these books are fantastic!

Reviews:

I’ve read a great book called *Enough by Jessica Rose Williams, who is a fellow writer, lifestyle blogger and vlogger who is best known for her personal writings on minimalism, slow living and capsule wardrobes. It’s a part memoir, part self-help guide. This gorgeous small hardback shares influencer Jessica’s transformation and shows how you can live an intuitive, minimal life in your own style. Alongside practical tips and journalling prompts, Jessica discusses the importance of finding what works best for the individual, rather than following a one-size-fits-all ‘quick fix’ formula. It’s a really insightful book and I’ve taken on board some of her tips. I like to think it’s a guide you can refer back to rather than a read it once type of book.
