Wooden Blind For The Kitchen from blindsbypost

We decided to go with a wooden blind made from real wood Tuscan Oak for the kitchen. Our worktops are wood effect and the kitchen cupboards are cream, so the a wooden blind would fit in with what we already have. I love the country-style warm and rustic cozy kitchen and the blind has just finished this look off.

We went for the bracket to bracket fitting option as I like to keep my succulents and other knick-knacks on my kitchen windowsill, therefore a recess option wouldn’t have worked for this room. That’s the great thing with blindsbypost is that you can get the fitting option that works for you. They offer the bracket to bracket, exact blind size and recess options.

True White Grain with Tapes For The Living Room from blindsbypost

Our living room window is quite long and lets in a lot of light, so we wanted a blind that would still let the light in, but also have some privacy. So we went for a white blind (PVC) with a wood grain effect and tapes. Also this blind needed to be in the window recess as we have curtains for this window. I love the design of the True White Grain with Tapes blind as it has a very Scandi feel to it!

Blind Controls

All blinds are supplied from blindsbypost with standard Left Hand Tilt and Right Hand Raise operation. They do have the facility on certain blinds to change the control sides for a fee, and this will be visible in the drop-down boxes on the product page when you are ordering.

Measuring and Installing

When you measure up for your blinds I will say you must be accurate. Use a steel tape measure for accuracy. We found blindsbypost’s measuring guides extremely helpful. Both blinds were the correct size. Our recess white grain blind for the living room was spot on. But if it was even 2mm wider it wouldn’t have fitted. So take the time to measure and then check again!

You get a pack of screws and raw plugs with the brackets for fitting the blind. We live in a new build house so we had to use our own metal raw plugs suitable for plaster walls. But this wasn’t an issue for us as we know what our walls are like! We found the blinds pretty easy to install with the detailed instruction guide given in the box.

Both blinds came with the additional pelmet or facia to install after the blinds are fitted. We installed the wooden one for the kitchen blind as that was cut to size inside the box. It really does give the blind that “finished look”. The living room one was left uncut in the box, which you can cut to size yourself with a hacksaw. This is the last detail we need to finish. Alternatively, they do offer “Flush Cut to Size” and “Pelmet Cut & Mitred With Returns” options for an additional cost.

Overall Thoughts

The ordering process on the website is easy to understand and navigate. You are given lots of options to get the blind to your specification. I particularly like the slat option size. I figured the wider the slats the fewer slats to dust! So we had the 50 mm slats for both the blinds. We are very happy with the finished products. The blind quality is excellent, they arrived very well packaged and detailed instructions on how to fit were easy to follow.

I hope you enjoyed our blindsbypost review and go on and give them a try!
