If your children are science mad like my 6 year old they will love the STEM toys from Science Mad! With the changeable Cornish weather conditions here, a Weather Station is an apt scientific toy to test out. One minute we have glorious sun and the next it’s windy and raining! Not forgetting the Cornish mizzle! So here is our Science Mad 5-in-1 Weather Station Review!

OK, so who wanted to be a meteorologist when they were a kid? Well, maybe it was just me then! I was obsessed with the weather as a child. I think I definitely got this from my dad. He was a farmer and was always looking up at the sky to see where or when the bad weather was coming. The weather is very important for farmers so they know when to cut/harvest the crops when to plant when to bring the animals in for winter. So I got this all from my dad. He used to use a piece of seaweed nailed to his shed door to know what the weather was doing. If the seaweed was dry it was good weather conditions. If the seaweed was damp the wet weather was coming as there was a heavy moisture level in the air. But science has come a long way from a piece of seaweed! And now we have these clever pieces of equipment like the Science Mad! 5-in-1 Weather Station to tell us the wind direction, and speed and much more!
Product Description
The Science Mad! 5-in-1 weather station includes a 3-cup anemometer that spins to measure the wind speed in either miles or kilometres per hour. An indicator points to where the wind is coming from, and when used with the integral compass, allows you to keep a record of the wind direction.
The thermometer measures temperature in both degrees Celsius and Fahrenheit.
There is a pull-out rain gauge that allows you to measure the inches or millimetres of rainfall over a particular period.

Features at a Glance
- Lightweight, compact and portable

How To Set Up The 5-in-1 Weather Station
The weather station is really easy to set up. Attach the 3 anemometer cups (don’t you love that word!) to the top of the station and screw in the mounting post to the underside of the station. You are now ready to go!

Next, find a spot in your garden with the thermometer preferably out of direct sunlight and push the station on the mounting post gently into the ground. You are now ready to start recording the weather!

What We Thought
So with this weather station, you can track the daily conditions, run experiments, record measurements and learn wonderful weather-related facts. It’s great for children to notice how the readings will change throughout the year. We know our garden gets very windy in the winter and super hot in the summer!

It’s a great fun STEM toy that will keep children entertained all year round. It helps them to learn to read measurements, understand how the weather changes and of course measure the weather and record the findings. Adult supervision is required to help set up the weather station and then children are fine to observe the station themselves.

The Science Mad! 5-in-1 Weather Station is part of a wider collection where you learn the fun way! Using real scientific equipment and kits with working features! Enjoy fun experiments in the fields of chemistry, physics, electricity and more…
and use the range to develop your scientific knowledge and fuel your passion for science! They make wonderful Christmas or birthday gifts.
