Whilst it’s one of the happiest times of your life, with so much to organise, wedding planning can be stressful. Throw your parenting responsibilities into the mix, and you may feel under even more pressure to get each task on your to-do list done as quickly as possible.
Thankfully, you can take a hands-on approach to planning your big day without having to sacrifice family time. Here are some of the ways you can balance wedding planning with your parenting responsibilities.

Organise your time
Having a child certainly keeps you on your toes – and having a wedding to plan for will only make life feel more hectic. You don’t want to feel overwhelmed while preparing for such a happy occasion, so it’s best to organise your time in a way that’ll help the process go more smoothly.
You might want to try creating a schedule, or allocating an hour or so each day to complete wedding-related tasks. You could arrange a solo activity for your child during that hour – if they have something fun to do and know what to expect, they’re much more likely to be enthusiastic about this new routine.
Involve your child
It could be helpful to involve your child in the wedding planning process, if they’re old enough. This can help them to feel more involved, and means you won’t have to worry about finding an alternative activity to keep them occupied.
Talk your child through each stage of the planning process as you go. They may find it inspiring to help you choose a venue, flowers or a dress, or to watch potential performers. Not only is this likely to spark their curiosity, but it’s a great opportunity to bond during this special time in both of your lives.

Lean on friends and family
Some elements of wedding planning will be pretty easy to complete, so it’s worth asking somebody else to lend a hand if you feel you can. Asking your friends and family to help you write a few emails or take some calls can make the planning process feel significantly less stressful, and leaves you more time to focus on spending guilt-free time with the kids.
Of course, you may want to oversee each and every wedding planning detail yourself – in which case, consider asking a loved one if they can take care of your child whilst you’re working through some of your tasks.

Connect during this special time
Wedding planning doesn’t have to feel overwhelming – this is an exciting time, and you deserve to enjoy every moment of it. However, it’s important to remember that if you do feel stressed, it won’t last forever. Keep your end goal in mind, and involve your child each step of the way to connect during this special time.
