4 Ways Society Has Changed In The Wake Of COVID-19

It’s fair to say that COVID-19 and the overall pandemic has changed our world considerably. Here are just some of the ways that the world and society has changed over the last couple of years.

Ways Society Has Changed In The Wake Of COVID-19

Smaller Events

First, events that used to be massive with large numbers of people attending are now a lot smaller. Just look at the wedding industry. The average cost of a wedding dropped by more than 50% last year compared to the previous year. People who believe this will quickly bounce back might be left more than slightly surprised. Instead, it seems like couples are quite happy to embrace the trend of smaller, more intimate weddings. Funerals are also not seeing the same number of guests. Instead, people are using funeral photography to share this moment with the people near and dear to their family who are not attending.

A New Way To Watch

Next, it’s clear that the way we are watching movies has also changed. During the worst of the pandemic, cinemas and theaters were closed leaving people with no option but to watch movies at home. Movie producers also committed to the change in demand by bringing cinema blockbusters straight to home movie screens. Warner Bros even committed to putting their entire slate of 2021 movies on HBO Max day and date with the big screen. It was a massive shift and it’s not going to bounce back as quickly as people hope. The window between cinema and home release has already been cut to 45 days.

Social Interactions

Social interactions have also changed significantly. Part of the reason for this is that people have been forced to social distance to remain safe. Last year kids went through an entire summer without being able to fully interact with their friends or other family members. Experts believe that this is going to have an impact on whether people can effectively socialize in the future and it could even change how children develop over the next few years.

Travel Choices

Finally, you need to recognize the way people are traveling has also changed. In the past it was common for virtually everyone who could afford it to book a trip abroad in the middle of summer. This just isn’t happening anymore. Instead, it’s more common for people to book holidays in their home country this year. This is true, even with travel restrictions lifted. People feel more comfortable avoiding travel completely. This is partly due to the delta variant. The benefit is that it has allowed people to explore their own country’s natural beauty. This has helped boost local tourist economies around the world. Another way that COVID has changed travel is that many international destinations are now requiring proof of a negative test before you can enter the country. A rapid PCR test in Boston can provide the documentation you need with in-home appointments so you can focus on packing and preparing for your trip.

As you can see, it’s clear that society has changed significantly in the wake of COVID-19. Things are likely going to take a while to return to normal, if they ever do. It’s important to put safety first and ensure that we work together to cope with these changes while also making the most of the new opportunities that present themselves.
