Is this the perfect affordable summer dress?

For a few weeks I have been having a quick look around for an affordable Summer dress. It is for my husband’s nan’s 100th birthday party in the Summer.
You might wonder, why am I looking now for a Summer dress?
Well until the end of this week I am still on full pay from work. Next week it will drop down to statutory maternity pay which is £139.58 a week. Which is less than half of my take home pay. So to cut a long story short I have been trying to get everything I need before my drop in income, when all we should need while I am off is to buy food, oh and my dreaded car insurance in June!
When we walked through the door in Sainsbury’s a couple of Saturday’s ago this gorgeous dress caught my eye. It was actually on one of those skinny mannequins. So my first thoughts, were I bet they don’t stock it in my size! I haven’t long had a baby so although I have got back into my favourite jeans, I am still carrying a bit of extra weight. Which I am truly not going to shift if I keep getting the munchies while I am breastfeeding!
Is this the perfect affordable summer dress?

Anyway lucky for me they had one size 20 left in stock, which is one size up from my regular 18. I simply love the bright orange colour of the dress, and at £22 its a complete bargain. It came with a cute little white belt as well. I love the scooped round neck on the dress, I think it gives it a 1960’s feel.
The white flowery pattern is very pretty, and with the white spots it gives the dress a very stand out feel. Not that I am a very standy out person!
To answer my own question – yes I believe I have found the perfect affordable dress.
I hope you are all having a lovely day.
Have you thought about clothes for Summer yet?

Fabulous dress I do like the TU range at Sainsbury's. I never seem to find anything though when I go shopping for myself which is a shame as I have a bloggers event coming up soon #kcacols

This is a lovely dress Rachel, and I'm so pleased that you have found a perfect dress for you for the party! I haven't started thinking about summer clothes yet, last year I was about to pop, so this year I need to revisit my summer wardrobe from 2 years ago (currently all my summer clothes are under the bed). Maybe it'll give me an excuse to go clothes shopping. I'm looking forward to hearing how the party went. Thanks so much for linking up at #KCACOLS. Hope you come back again next Sunday. Claire x

Really pretty dress, I personally struggle finding colourful clothes being a size 20 myself. It's frustrating! #kcacols

I have noticed that lately, never really looked at Sainbury's clothes before x

This is gorgeous. I am always impressed by clothes in sainsburys.
I'm trying not to buy any dresses unless I can feed in them though as I have so many that I can't wear at the moment (as lifting up a whole dress while out and about is considered socially unacceptable, who knew?!) that it would be a bit of a waste of money to buy any more. I am investing in some dungarees though as they are easy to feed in ha. #KCACOLS

haha, my idea is to pump off some milk for baby girl for the afternoon, so no lifting up the dress to feed in front of the old ladies!x

Love that orange colour and the 50s styling, am sure it will look fab for your summer party. No thoughts of summer here yet, difficult to even imagine this evening as its pouring with rain! Thanks for linking up again #PuddingLove

thanks for sharing this find, I never think to look in sainsburys. I've not bought anything summery yet, closest I came is to a pair of tan pumps which I haven't worn yet as its not warm enough to bare the ankles! the shops are now full of lovely summer things. enjoy the party x #puddinglove

I have been so tempted by all the summer clothes in the shops but I can't bear to buy them when it's still so chilly outside! I love the print on this one though, it's so pretty!
