What is Kangaroo Beach about?

Kangaroo Beach is a 26 x 11’ minute animated surf-safety series for preschoolers and their families produced by Cheeky Little Media and created by Tim Bain. He has also written for PJ Masks, Go Jetters, Bluey, Fireman Sam, and Bob the Builder among other shows for a slightly older audience.

The series is about four young animal friends, Pounce, Gemma, Neville, and Frizzy, who spend an action-packed summer at Kangaroo beach, training as junior cadets with their lifeguard heroes. When an emergency breaks out, the cadets step up to help keep the water safe. It’s an action-packed adventure for the four furry friends, whether training to be lifeguards, mastering new water sports, discovering the marvels of the ocean, or scuba diving for underwater treasure.

They are under the guidance of grown-up lifeguards Bondi, Sandy, and Big Trev. Who teach them imperative water safety skills that will help keep themselves and other beachgoers safe all summer. This is done through fun-filled games, sporting contests, and on-the-job training.

Kids will love the funny characters and all of the edge-of-your-seat rescues!

The series will appeal to young audiences by exploring the wonders of water play, whilst helping to promote an essential message about water safety in every episode.

Parents will love that the series’ water safety advice comes from water safety professionals and is accredited by the Swimming Teachers Association, the UK’s reputable water safety charity.

The purpose of the show is to inspire swimmers to think first and inform themselves before they hop into the water – and once they do jump in, to encourage them to have the time of their lives!

The Kangaroo Beach Characters

Pounce – Is the super-keen kangaroo! He may look little, but one day he wants to be a big, muscly lifeguard just like his hero – Bondi!

Gemma – Is a platypus who loves exploring the ocean and meeting fascinating new sea creatures. Also, winning beach races – look out Pounce!

Frizzy –  Is the superstar koala! Naturally, the star of the show – singing and dancing the way into your hearts!

Neville – Is a hairy-nosed albino wombat with a big heart. Sure, the beach has hot sand, scary waves and hungry sharks, but it’s also home to my the bestest friends in the whole wide world!

Sandy – Is the co-chief lifeguard, club medic and surfing champ, winner of 38 trophies – but hey, who’s counting? When an emergency breaks out on Kangaroo Beach, she is on it like a seagull on a chip!

Big Trev – Senior lifeguard and chopper pilot. It’s been his honour to serve Kangaroo Beach for fifty wonderful years. But he’s even prouder of his granddaughter Frizzy training as a cadet.

Bondi – The co-chief lifeguard of Kangaroo Beach. Along with Sandy and Big Trev, He keeps the beach safe from danger, spotting trouble and shouting “Roo to the rescue!”

Lin and Wei – Wei and his (sometimes embarrassing) dad Lin are at the beach on holiday for fun in the sun, building sandcastles and sliding down the slippery dip!

Our Kangaroo Beach Review

Living by the sea means learning about water safety is of the utmost importance here in Cornwall. And Kangaroo Beach is the perfect early learning aid to help with this. I must say that it’s hugely entertaining and relatable to young children with the bright bold colours, the action adventure fun and the strong friendships the characters make. Each episode is around 11 minutes long so the perfect length to keep busy minds occupied without losing concentration. Our favourite character is Gemma as she loves to explore the ocean and meet new friends.

Kangaroo Beach is the best show to be watching this summer – not only hugely entertaining but also perfectly timed as families look to get away to the coast or spend more time by the pool! It will help your child build water confidence in the correct way. A highly recommended educational show to check out on Nick Jr.
