Cocooned and Cozy
Comfortable seating is a must if you want to create a peaceful sanctuary. Look for a big squishy sofa upholstered in sumptuous velvet or an apartment sectional with a chaise so that you can kick off your shoes and stretch out in style.
An electric recliner chair will be a luxurious addition to your cozy living room. At the press of a button, you will be slowly maneuvered into a position of sheer bliss while being cradled like a baby inside the soft padding of the chair.
Swathed in Softness
The most effective way to make your living room cozier is to accessorize with plenty of cushions, throws, and soft furnishings.
Scatter large faux fur and sheepskin cushions across the sofas and chairs in your living room – the softer and squishier, the better. Nothing beats being cuddled by a pile of luxuriously fluffy pillows.
Fleece blankets and fake fur hides can be thrown over seating for added warmth and can be used to lie under on particularly cold days.
Walking on Air
Deep pile carpets and rugs add warmth to stark bare floors and feel wonderful underfoot when walking around barefoot on a winter morning. Coziness is created with textures, so opt for floor coverings that have such a deep pile that you sink into them.

Bright fluorescent lights are far from being cozy. The lighting you choose for your living room can dictate the overall ambiance, so choose wisely. Opt for table lamps rather than ceiling lights and fit them with soft, opaque light bulbs that give out soft yellow-toned light.
Warm and Glowing
The ultimate way to make your room warm and inviting is to install a fireplace. An open log fire will create a romantic focal point in the room, but when living in an apartment, a real log or coal fueled fire isn’t viable as the building probably doesn’t have a chimney. Electric or gas living flame fires can be just as effective and will cozy up any room.
Gel-fueled or liquid fires are a great option as they can be placed anywhere in the room because they do not need to be near a PowerPoint or plumbed to the open air.
Cozy Colors
When decorating a living room, you should choose a warm color palette. Shades of red, orange, brown, and yellow will make a room feel womb-like and cozy. If you don’t want to paint the walls in dark shades of red, opt for hues of tan or caramel and add stronger accent colors through accessories such as pillows, art, curtains, ornaments, and art.
