With Autumn arriving I like to do a sort of Spring clean and refresh the home ready for the Winter months. By doing this it makes the home more cosy and snuggly ready for the colder months. It’s also a fantastic time now that Summer has been and gone to research and update the decor and soft furnishings. I love to browse online for home interior trends for ideas. So while I have been doing my research I’d thought I would share with you what I’ve found for the Autumn Winter home living trends 2018.
Autumn/Winter Key Home Decor Trends 2018
This has to be my favourite trend I’ve found so far. I think of Autumn as wandering through the woods seeing all the marvellous colours and textures around me. All the browns, oranges, russet, plum and damson colours. These are in fact the key colours this Autumn.
Texture wise it’s all about dried flower arrangements, woods, woollen chunky knits from giant knitting, and rustic country linens. The theme can be shown to be sort of like hibernating, the feeling of contentment and hygge – creating a happy home. Hygge style.
Woodland animals feature within this trend, think hares, squirrels and deer. The woodland creatures are featuring on all sorts of soft furnishings and tableware. I found some lovely decorative bedding sets over at lionshome.
If you love pastel colours this home decor trend would be for you. It’s a slight step sideways to the ever popular Scandi trend. It’s perfect for creating an effortless stylish theme.
The pastel colour palette of accessories and furniture lends a softer edge to dark winter months. Key palette colours for this trend are Lavender, sage, blush pink and canvas white. On trend materials this Autumn Winter include buff leather, earthenware and ash/bleached wood.
The elegant thing about the Nordic trend is that its open to global designs, so Moroccan elements as an example. Tassels and pom poms are key embellishments for this Nordic theme.
Everyone loves a touch of luxury and you’re lucky! This Autumn Winter home and living trends include a touch of the high-end. Fabrics and furniture that make you feel special. Art Deco furniture pieces with minimalist lighting is the way forward. A key furniture piece to go with this theme is the drinks trolley which fits the trend of staying in, is the new going out. Elegant bottles of gin and tumblers are key accessory pieces for your trolley.
In the way of materials think, marble, brass, velvet and smokey glass. Colours are dusty rose, greys, and golds. Colourful statement rugs can help to elevate your rooms.
The redefined industrial look – Think everything industrial is slimmed down and softer looking. No more large warehouse style lampshades or metal staircases. You will now see softer lines and country-style incorporated.
The eastern look – The Japanese element is gaining strength within soft furnishings this forthcoming season. Soft silks, birds, cherry blossom and oriental style prints will be significant.
Which one of these trends is your favourite?
