Many of us have been spending a lot more time in our gardens in recent months, for obvious reasons. In that time, we’ve come to really appreciate how important outdoor space is and we all want to make the most of our gardens, especially if we have kids who need to run around and have some space of their own to enjoy.
With that in mind, we’ve put together a few ideas of things (including a rope swing!) you can do to make your garden space even more fun:
Have an outdoor movie night
All you need is a portable projector and a white sheet and you can stage your own cinema night in the comfort of your back garden. Throwdown a few floor cushions or beanbags, pop some corn or toast some marshmallows and you’ll have one of the most memorable nights of your family life right there in the back garden. The kids will find it magical, and chances are you will too.

Set the stage
If you have a washing line and a pair of spare curtains, you can have your own outdoor stage. Simply hang the curtains from the washing line and it will feel (to the kids at least) like their very own theatre where they can entertain mum, dad and their friends with their very own shows. It’s a great way to get creative and have some fun in the fresh air.
Have a hideaway
If you would like some time away from the kids, and they you, but you don’t really want them to leave your property, a shed from a reputable company like twin city sheds is a great idea. Erect it in a corner of your garden. Plant a few shrubs in front of it for privacy and fill it with beanbags, some sort of media player and lots of toys and your kids can have fun “living away from home” in their own little hideaway, while you’re safe in the knowledge you dan keep tabs on them.

Hang a swing
If you’re lucky enough to have a tree in your garden, create a simple rope swing and hang it from the tree. It will encourage the kids to be a bit more active as they see who can swing the highest and furthest. Just make sure there’s a soft landing spot for them should they be a bit too ambitious.
Get a picnic table
When you have a family picnic table, it’s easier to have a picnic. Picnics may be an old activity, but they are a classic and there is something about eating outdoors that makes the food taste so much better. Picnic tables can be bought very cheaply second-hand and they’ll allow you all to eat together whenever you like outdoors without it costing you any more than your usual meal would. What’s not to love about that?
Your garden is one of your home’s best assets., so why not use it as a space where you can have as much care-free family fun as possible?
