What Getaways We Have Planned This Year

This is our last full year to go on holiday in term time as L starts school next September. Since I’ve been together with Mr. B we have always gone on holiday either the end of June or September/October. We have carried this on when we became parents as well. Much quieter travelling on the roads as well as at the resorts and hotels we’ve stayed at. If I’m being honest I’m not looking forward to going away in the school holidays, I don’t do well with busy crowds! To keep costs down we are only travelling in the UK and not going abroad.

So what getaways have we got planned this year?

What Getaways We Have Planned This Year

May

Last week it was the BlogOn conference in Manchester. I took the family with me so we could go over and visit family in Derbyshire after the conference. This will be my second BlogOn and I can’t wait to catch up with my fellow bloggers. It’s always a fantastic day, learning loads from the sessions and introducing myself to brands.

Mr. B took the girls out for the day in Manchester with his Mum. They went to explore Inflatanation, Legoland Discovery Centre Manchester and they went to the Sealife Centre. It’s good that she came along, not only to help out with the girls but to have a getaway herself. After Manchester, we drove over the Peak District to Chesterfield and spent a few days with family. A visit to Bakewell while we were there was a must!

July

In July, Mr B and I book a couple of weeks off work to get jobs done around the house. We also use this time to explore our wonderful county of Cornwall and head out on day trips. So not technically a getaway, but a staycation at home. Viewing the sights, countryside and beaches on our doorstep. Sometimes you don’t need to go away to enjoy a holiday. All you need to do is explore the places around you.

September

In September we have been invited back again to Bluestone National Park in Wales. Last year it was our first family holiday as a four. Travelling through the middle of wales with a 2-year-old and a 5-month-old was hard when we had trouble finding services on route! But the holiday was amazing. This year the girls are 3 and 1 years old so we are looking forward to doing a bit more with them. I hope the weather holds out this time around!

Also in September, I’m heading to the Blog On Toys conference in Berkshire. It’s always exciting to head to a blog conference. This time Mr. B is planning on taking them to Legoland Windsor as it’s just 20 minutes away from where we are staying. We have been collecting special offer tickets from cereal boxes to save a few extra pennies these past few weeks. I’m always looking at ways to save money and planning ahead.

Where are you heading away this year?

Thanks for stopping by today and reading my post.

  1. Nowadays pretty much the only trips we take are to visit our daughter and granddaughter, who live several hours drive from us, or local days out when they come up north to visit us.

  2. Oh how wonderful – some lovely holidays/breaks planned. Very relaxing. We often go to the Linconshire coast or to Sussex, and will take our two pups. x

  3. We always visit my dad in the summer stay at his house in Surrey Walton on Thames by the river. Only other plans in a day out to Cardiff to watch in the night garden live in October

  4. We were thinking of going to Barcelona, but like you, I’m seriously considering having a staycation. There are so many beautiful counties in the UK that we have yet to visit. Have a lovely summer x
