Today I have a Modibodi review on the blog. I was kindly sent 3 pairs of Modibodi period pants to try, but first, let’s talk periods. It’s not a subject I’ve ever felt confident talking about if I’m being honest, I’ve always felt it was a personal topic. In fact, I was one of those young girls who always suffered in silence with horrendous heavy painful periods when I was a teen and into my 20’s. I have one vivid memory when I was at college feeling really light-headed with pain, I thought I was going to pass out. When I was 30 we were trying to get pregnant, we went through 3 miscarriages before I was finally pregnant with our eldest. I will tell you now, I could have done with these Modibodi pants during that challenging time! Now after 2 c-sections I barely have any period pain each month, although they are still just as heavy. So I was eager to see if these period pants would work for me.
Before I get onto sharing my thoughts on the Modibodi underwear, here is a little bit about them.
Modibodi was born in Australia by founder Kirsty who after her second child experienced “bladder leaks”. She wanted to change underwear for the better, by designing a reusable, sustainable range of tops, singlets, period and sweat-proof undies as well as period swimwear. Created to help reduce the endless amounts of landfill. Modibodi launched into the UK in 2018 and last year introduced a men’s range.
How Modibodi Works?
The Modibodi pants have a special 3 layer lining. A top layer of soft bamboo material wicks away moisture, fights bacteria and stops smells. Keeping you dry. The middle layer is a merino perform wool that locks away the moisture and the bottom layer is the waterproof protection to stop any leaks.
There are 6 types of absorbency for the Modibodi pants that you can buy:
- Moisture wicking
Caring for your period pants
There are 4 steps to care for your Eco-friendly period underwear:

- Rinse in cold water after use. Don’t soak just rinse until the water runs clear.
- Pop in a cold wash without conditioner
- Hang up to dry
Modibodi Review: What I Thought
I get very bloated around the time of my period so I went one size up for my Modibodi pants. Comfort is a must for me! I’m very impressed with the quality of the underwear. As I have heavy periods for the first few days I opted to try the Heavy-overnight and at the end the Light-moderate flow ones (the peach coloured pair)
I must admit I was nervous trying the underwear for this Modibodi review. So I made sure on the first day I was home all day! I was dubious that the pants were going to contain my heavy flow with no leaks.
The result – I was amazed, no leaks at all. It was strange at first getting used to them. They were so comfy and didn’t feel much different from a normal pair of knickers! I think that’s why I found it a little unusual, but after a few hours my confidence in them grew and by the end of the day I’m a total convert. They are really easy to rinse and wash, and are perfect for reducing landfill waste and saving you money in the long run! There are many colours and designs to suit your body shape and style. If you are looking for eco-swaps next year this is a brilliant one!
You can buy Modibodi underwear direct from their online shop.
