What are the most followed property TV shows on Instagram?

1. Escape To The Chateau – @escape_to_the_chateau

Following the restoration quest of Dick Strawbridge and Angel Adoree as they try to renovate a château in France, this reality television show has been on the air for eight years and nine series on Channel 4.

The show’s Instagram account has amassed a large number of followers, with over 472,000 people subscribed to the official Escape To The Chateau account. Followers can get a glimpse into the life of the Strawbridge Family as they repair the Château de la Motte-Husson in Martigné-sur-Mayenne and run their events business.

Fans who follow the account can see behind-the-scenes photographs from the television show, as well as family photographs of Dick, Angel and their two young children. The account also includes photographs from the weddings and events that are held at the château throughout the year. Nearly 500 photographs and videos have been posted on the account, which can get anywhere between 3,000 to over 45,000 Likes each.

2. Grand Designs – @granddesignstv

A staple of British television since 1999, it’s little wonder that Grand Designs has such a strong following on social media. With over 167,000 followers, the show’s official Instagram account has the second-highest number of TV property shows in the UK.

The account regularly posts photographs of the show’s beloved presenter, Kevin McCloud, who has worked on the show since it premiered 23 years ago. Fans can also see clips from the show and the finished properties after they’ve been built or renovated.

Over 600 photographs and videos have been posted on the hit show’s Instagram account, with the majority earning over 1,000 Likes.

3. A Place In The Sun – @aplaceinthesunofficial

Many Brits dream of leaving rainy Britain behind for a sun-drenched property abroad. A Place In The Sun follows couples as they do exactly that and ditch Cambridge for the Caribbean or Portsmouth for Portugal.

Over 45,000 people follow A Place In the Sun‘s official Instagram account. Unusually for a property TV show, the account focuses on photographs of the presenters in exotic locations rather than the properties featured on the show. However, the sunshine and sparkly blue waters may be enough to tempt some people to start looking at properties abroad!

There are over 350 photographs of the presenters posing in front of sunny beaches or lounging by the pool on the show’s Instagram account. Some of the images have around 200 Likes, whilst others boast over 1,000.

4. Escape To The Country – @escape_country

The first BBC show to appear on the list, Escape To The Country has been a staple on daytime television since 2002. It has 23 series and over 650 episodes, each showing couples who want to find their dream property in rural parts of the UK.

The show’s official Instagram account has over 27,000 followers and over 500 posts. Followers can get an insight into what each episode will focus on before it airs by reading the image and video captions.

As with A Place In The Sun, the Instagram account for Escape To The Country mainly features photographs of the presenters in the area where they filmed each episode. The images usually earn over 800 Likes, although some have received over 1,000.

5. Location, Location, Location – @c4locationsofficial

Kirstie Allsop and Phil Spencer have presented this popular Channel 4 show since 2000. Each episode follows the pair as they try to find the perfect home for buyers with a specific set of requirements. The show’s official Instagram account features clips from the show, as well as adverts for new participants.

Over 21,000 people follow Location, Location, Location on Instagram, which makes it the fifth-most followed UK property show. Although each post only gains around 700 Likes, the reels often receive over 3,000 views.

The show’s Instagram account tends to post when new episodes are airing, which sometimes leaves fans waiting a few months for new Instagram content when the show isn’t on TV.

6. The World’s Most Extraordinary Homes @worldsmostextraordinaryhomes

Next on the list is a show that’s fairly new in comparison to many of its competitors (having only started in 2017). However, The World’s Most Extraordinary Homes has gained a reliable group of fans on Instagram. Over 20,000 people follow the show’s official Instagram account, which has over 160 posts.

As the name suggests, the Instagram account showcases the weird and wonderful properties that are featured on the show. From a house design inspired by dragons to a kitchen cupboard built into a car, fans can see the up-close details and sweeping shots of some of their favourite properties.

The majority of posts on the show’s Instagram account have over 700 Likes, although some have managed over 1,700.

7. George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces – @gcamazingspaces

Although George Clarke himself has 215,000 followers on Instagram, his property show George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces ranks seventh on this list with just over 16,000 followers. Fans can see clips from upcoming and old episodes, and even find out how they can apply to be on the show themselves!

Most of the posts on this account are reels, which gain around 150 Likes each. Despite the account starting way back in 2015, there are still under 100 posts on it. As many social media fans know, regular posting is a key part of gaining new followers which may be why this account hasn’t gained more over the past eight years.

8. Kirstie And Phil’s Love It Or List It – @loveitorlistituk

The UK version of the Love It Or List It franchise is yet another property show presented by Kirstie Allsop and Phil Spencer. Although the account for the original Canadian version has over 100,000 followers the British version has just over 8,000.

Fans of the show can see smiling photos of Kirstie and Phil with couples who have appeared in past episodes. They can also see information on when the next episode is airing or how they can apply to be on the programme. However, despite the account having been started back in 2018, there are still under 60 posts on it.

9. Renovate Don’t Relocate – @renovatedontrelocate

Television property legend Sarah Beeny fronts this renovation show that aims to help couples and families to improve their current properties. The show began in 2019 and ran for two series until 2020.

With only 16 posts (the last posted in August 2020), it’s little wonder that Renovate Don’t Relocate‘s official Instagram account only has around 1,000 followers. Each post has approximately 25 Likes, although some of the reels have over 600 views.

It’s unlikely that this account will gain many more followers unless there’s a revival of the show. However, if you want to keep up to date with Sarah Beeny and her future shows, you can join 376,000 other fans and follow her on her personal Instagram account.

The table below shows the top nine most followed TV property shows in the UK with the number of followers as of April 2023:
