My Sunday Photo 12/06/2016

I just happened to walk past this gorgeous Rose in my dads garden the other day and it really caught my eye.
The pink/red colour is just so beautiful – nature at it’s best.

Driving Experiences with my Dad

To celebrate Father’s Day coming up on the 19th June I am writing this post dedicated to my dad and my driving experiences with him.

So Let me first tell you a bit about my dad.
He’s in his 80’s and still drives locally around his town popping to the shops or doctors.
He’s been driving most of his life. Back when my dad started driving in the 1940’s there wasn’t much of a driving test.
You just got in the car and drove around a bit!
I always love to hear about his driving experiences and this quote is from him for when they used to take driving tests back then.
“They used to make us stop on a hill and get out to put an egg behind the tyre to see if you rolled back”
Haha, imagine doing that nowadays!

Dad drove Milk lorries back in the 1960’s and he still says today it was the best time of his life.

Of course back then there were many little farms dotted about the Cornish countryside, on quiet roads. Not like the stresses on the roads that the lorry drivers have today.

Anyway my dad got lots of best driving badges which he say’s makes him a better driver on the roads today. Driving a lorry gave him much more road experiences. Especially when it comes to spatial awareness. Driving lorries down country lanes makes you so much more aware of what is around you.

When I’m out in the car with dad his judgement is excellent. He is really good at negotiating when trying to get past parked cars or finding that space you don’t think exists!

Driving with my dad is fun.

He always gives a running commentary. Especially when we are pottering around our local area. He likes to tell me things like when he was a boy our local hospital was just a large green field. Or this road used to be a horse and cart road and over there used to be a farm that I used to pick up milk from.

I love these times together.

One thing that my dad is very serious about is tyre safety. He always checks my husband’s tyres on his car when we go round there as he does a lot of miles for work. Its a running joke now!

My dad always says “the most important thing on a car is the tyres, as it’s the only thing in contact with the ground”

I have to agree with him. Tyre safety is so important nowadays and I know when you are driving your kids around you want to be in a car that’s safe and roadworthy.

If you are looking to replace your tyres why not try Point-S. They sell top branded tyres at the best prices online through their booking system, and get them delivered to your nearest fitting centre.

Office Culture and Workplace Wellbeing

I’m on Maternity Leave at the moment but would like to express my thoughts on Office Cultures, and Workplace Wellbeing and we all know that everyone has their own little quirky office routines!

It’s nice to actually have the time to look back over at the workplace and think about that wonky chair that everyone avoided and the button on the coffee machine everyone knows not to press.

Somehow everyone forgets to tell the ‘newbie’!

Oh and not forgetting you must not sit in ‘Barry’s’ seat at all costs. Not if you don’t want to be given the worst tasks for the day and that look of annoyance that will make you cringe into the floor.

Who hates Monday’s?

I think we all get ‘that’ Monday feeling starting on a Sunday night.

The thought of having to get up and head off to work knowing it’s 5 whole days of this until the weekend.

I know I used to rather go to work any day but Monday’s. There is something about Monday’s that gives you that feeling of dread and despair.

My husband and I call it ‘that dreaded Monday feeling’

Wouldn’t it be nice to turn up on a Monday morning with the feeling of happiness and excitement you get on a Friday?

We all get that #FridayFeeling  and by lunchtime on Friday’s we can’t wait for the day to end.

Don’t we all want that feeling when you turn up to that lush comfy chair where you can start your morning jobs its like feeling at home? Especially if you do work at home! If you want that kind of fantastic chair, look over at Furniture@Work which I’m sure you would be able to find the one for your office. Whether it’s your home office or workplace station.

Great for your posture. Comfy and snug yet supportive. A great chair to work from contributes a lot to your health and wellbeing.
Office culture and workplace wellbeing
We all want great working conditions. It makes us all happier in our workplace. A huge percentage of us have to work so we need to be happy while we are there. You have to admit we spend a lot of our lifetime in the workplace.
I’m sure some one said somewhere that a happy workplace means greater productivity from your staff.
It’s just common sense really isn’t it?

So What is Sugru?

Sugru is a moldable glue that sticks to almost anything and turns into a strong flexible rubber overnight. It is made to stick to as many materials as possible forming a strong bond to aluminium, steel, ceramics, glass, wood and other materials including some plastics and rubbers.
Invented for people looking to repair and improve stuff, it’s used by people in over 160 countries. Handy for any number of small home improvement projects, Sugru’s durable cured properties mean it’ll stay strong and securely bonded anywhere from the freezer to a hot shower, from the garden to the great outdoors.
Sugru’s name derives from the Irish word for ‘play’ and is available in 10 different colors which can be blended to make any color you like. Sugru is available at a wide range of retailers as well as online at Sugru.com.
Home Hacks Made Easy - Sugru Starter Kit
I love the cute little practical tin that comes with the starter kit. Great for keeping your Sugru pieces in.

The handy guide that comes with the kit is fab! It’s a really great quality guide with loads of hints and tips of what where and when you can use the Sugru. I especially love the way the Sugru can be used to help cables work for longer. We have been through loads of cables where the wires break inside. The Sugru just helps protect the delicate ends.

So what’s a home hack then? It’s a kind of DIY that we’ve all be doing for years without even realising it. Often referred to as fixing, tweaking, tinkering or enhancing. It’s the perfect gift for anybody who loves a good idea.
Would your dad love a gift like this?
