We were sent two of Sweet Cherry Publishing’s new kid’s books for September 2021. They are Magic Animal Cafe – Herriot the Caretaker Mouse and A Discovery Disappears. L is really getting into her older kids’ books at the moment. At school, they get the chance to pick a longer book from the school library to take home for the parents to read, but L loves to read it herself! When these two arrived, they were right up her street, as she loves mysteries. One day I need to introduce her to my old Famous Five books!

What We Thought
Both books are book 1 in the new series. This made them easier to get into as we were starting right at the beginning. Herriot the Caretaker mouse was lots of fun to read which we read at bedtime together. It’s got a great plot with lovely illustrations to break up the text. Perfect for the age 7-9 years bracket. If your child loves cats and dogs this is a winner. We will be finding the next book in the series for sure!
A Discovery Disappears comes with a free audiobook, so we listened to this one as we followed the text along. All you need is a smartphone and you can scan the QR code inside the cover. It’s so easy for kids to use. It was a fabulous addition to the book.
Both books are wonderful stories for encouraging reading in the 6-9 years age bracket. We thoroughly enjoyed them!
